Former MLB Pitcher Mark Eichhorn Responds to Autograph Request

Marie Lowe
Former Toronto Blue Jay Mark Eicchorn responded to my through the mail autograph request this week.

Eichhorn is the eighth player to respond to my requests since I started pursing autographs through the mail in September.

Eichhorn began his Major League career in 1982 with the Blue Jays with a 0-3 record.

After the poor start, it took four years for Eichhorn to play in the big leagues again.

He stayed with the Blue Jays until 1989 when he became an Atlanta Brave for a year.

In 1990 he played with the California Angels until returning to the Blue Jays in 1992.

The two teams played tennin with Eichhorn as returned back to the Angels and then back to the Blue Jays for the remainder of the season.

He spent the 1994 season with the Baltimore Orioles and then returned to the Angels in 1996 before ending his career with a 48-43 win loss record.

I mailed Eichhorn a 1988 Topps baseball card on Oct. 22 to an address in Cailfornia. I got a response in just eight days, one of the fastest responses so far.

Others that have responded to my TTM requests are: Mike Sweeney, Bill Swift, Vance Law, and Kevin Gross, Bryn Smith, Chris Speier, and Scott Sanderson.

Those that have refused are Craig Paquette, Jody Davis and Bob Horner.

In addition to signing his name, Eichhorn added the number 38 and then wrote Phil:4:13.

Which is a bibical passage that reads I can do all things through him who gives me strength.

Have to say thanks to Mark for the signature and the inspiration.

Those that I have attempted to make contact with include: Livan Hernandez, Latroy Hawkins, Tony Pena, Omar Vizquel, Tim Wakefield, Steve Cox, Tommy John, Steve Garvey, Ron Gant, Pete Incavigla, Rich Gedman, Bryan Harvey, Tommy Lasorda, Ray Fontenot, Jason Thompson, Ed Hearn, Leon Durham, Franklin Stubbs, Larry McWilliams, Andy Hawkins, Dave Winfield, Jay Tibbs, Mike Scioscia, Ken Howell, and Eric Davis, John Tudor, Shawon Dunston, Ricky Jordan, Bruce Benedict, Randy Milligan, Rick Reuschel.

If your a sports fan I encourage you to give this hobby a try.

Its fun, inexpensive and can be exciting.

For addresses of players and others log onto www.fanmail.biz.

There you can find comments from other collectors as to who has signed and who hasn't.

So log on, buy some stamps and have some fun.

That's very nice of him, and not everyone can go to the games and have a chance to meet their heroes.
