Former Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter, to Appear on the CW's Smallville
Smallville Brings the Amazon Warrior Back to the Small Screen
On April 19, Lynda Carter will once again join the DC Comic Universe as she portrays Moira Sullivan, mother of Chloe Sullivan (Allison Mack), on The CW's Smallville.
Carter will guest star as a woman who has the ability to control the series' popular "meteor freaks," people who have developed physical and psychic anomalies as the result of exposure to the meteor remnants (perhaps better known as Kryptonite to longtime Superman fans) which litter Smallville. When Lex Luthor discovers Moira's ability to control those affected by the rocks, Chloe becomes his pawn as he uses her to will Moira into helping him control the "normality-impaired."
Far from playing a star-spangled superheroine, Smallville will take Carter out of the arena of Amazon warriors and place her in a completely different environment: a mental institution. Aside from combating Lex Luthor, the episode will allow Chloe to finally get to know her mother who has only been eluded to in past episodes.
This isn't the first time that Smallville has revisited the DC superheroes of film and television past. Before his death in 2004, Christopher Reeve guest starred in two episodes as Dr. Virgil Swann, a man who was able to translate Kryptonian messages that had been sent to Clark from his home planet. Margot Kidder, who portrayed Lois Lane in the Reeve films, also appeared as Swann's assistant. Other Superman alum to appear on the show have included Terrance Stamp and, most notably, Annette O' Toole, who once played Lana Lang in the third installment of the Superman franchise starring Christopher Reeve.
As for the rumors that once circulated about Diana Prince a.k.a. Wonder Woman appearing on the series, producers have put the stopper on those rumors. With the upcoming Warner Brothers' Wonder Woman feature film in development, Warner Brothers has put restrictions on the character's appearance.
In the meantime, however, fans can watch as Carter returns to her roots in the April 19th episode entitled, "Progeny." The episode airs on The CW at 8 Eastern, 7 Central.

Post a CommentGreat article. Very entertaining as well as most informative.
When I was younger, I would try to mimick her bullet proof bracelets by putting aluminum foil on my wrist and letting my sister throw pebbles at me.(not a smart thing to do.)
I still like Wonder Woman, and I think my 8 year old son is in love with her. Good article.
Very interesting. I used to watch this show but haven't in a while. My favorite superman is Dean Cain though. I loved Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.
