Former Wrestlers Shouldn't Pretend to Be Experts

Since the Chris Benoit tragedy, shows like Nancy Grace, The O'Riley Factor, and Hannity and Colmes have had guests on there being former wrestlers. Marc Mero has been a frequent guest on mainly Nancy Grace talking about the evils of wrestling. In my own personal opinion, it's really not valid because they're not working for the company right at this time. Some of them are just trying to grab that 15 minutes of fame. Listening to them really makes you wonder what are really covering exactly, Chris Benoit's situation or just trying to crusade against WWE? It seems more of a crusade than anything. Konnan goes on there and discusses on with the road schedule drugs have to be taken to survive. Now, they aren't true at all as there is such a thing called Freedom of Choice. Nobody is forced to take drugs or go drink alcohol. There is a concept called making a choice but we, as people are accountable for what we do. Konnan talks about being broke, well he is responsible for his own mistakes when it comes to blowing money away like that. You'd think after the money some of the wrestlers made especially with WCW at the time he would still have money left over but I guess probably figured using drugs and that type of stuff was obviously much more important than saving money. I also recall Blackman also bringing up about making a choice and arguing with Mero over the whole ordeal on Nancy Grace.

The times have changed and it's not the same as it was for the former wrestlers. While there have been some people like Chris Jericho talk about it, he has known Benoit and right now has taken probably the smartest route in waiting for the toxicology report instead of going into the media circus of speculation. I know Warrior was on Hannity and Colmes trying to give his take on steroids and has admitted to taking them but has always been open about it. The big issue was more about talking about steroids and while Warrior was talking, Hannity would interrupt playing the role of the rude host that doesn't allow anyone to speak.

It has become apparent there is more talk about steroids being a problem and apparently everyone in the wrestling world uses drugs. I really don't think that's the case and there is a strict drug policy I know in WWE. I'm sure TNA has it too but I think that's done privately so it's not really known to the public as to who is passing and who isn't. I don't know but I do think the independent scene isn't in that bad of shape. These guys get hurt and that is true, that's something that doesn't get brought up a whole lot when it comes to steroids as some take it under a physician's care. I feel that the media just doesn't mention it because when the term steroids and wrestling are brought up; it seems to be automatic and never look at the reasons why they are done in the 1st place. To push it over the edge, there was a time former ECW and WCW Tag Team Champion Johnny Grunge died and his wife came on Nancy Grace talked about once he got released from WCW, they lost there home and car. There was talk about drugs and steroids but again it was down to just poor managing money.

On the web, Mr. Kennedy posted on his site about his own viewpoint talking about the media, former wrestlers, and the WWE Wellness Policy. He has a great point when it comes to freedom of choice and also if they are flat broke, the people themselves have no one to blame but themselves for the mistakes. That is true because whenever someone gets involved with that stuff, they really got no one to blame for themselves but so far have blamed the industry and not themselves. There is a choice whether or not you're going to follow the law or break it. Also, take note that he said that wrestlers today don't live the rock-star life style of partying all night and having pills and such involved.

Before looking at former wrestlers or for that matter disgruntled ones that are no longer the stars they were, look at the facts from people that wrestles within the company. They got the policy and can give a better explanation on how it works exactly. There are choices to be made and you yourself have to make the choice on what you get involved with. After that decision if it turns to be a bad choice, you have no one to blame but yourself for your own problems as hard as it seems to do.Source: Mr. Kennedy's official Web Site: www.Ken-Kennedy.com, TV Shows The O'Riley Factor, Nancy Grace, Hannity and Colmes over the whole steroid issue
