Formula One: Magny-Cours French Grand Prix Result

It was a great weekend of racing yesterday at the Magny-Cours circuit in France. FIA Formula One 2007 Magny-Cours French Grand Prix might be the last Formula One race in that circuit. There are talks going on about building a new circuit in Paris and holding the Formula One races in that circuit in 2009.

About the race, after the Formula One French Grand Prix qualifying, Massa started from the front of the grid, then Lewis Hamilton and Kimi Raikonnen. After all the red lights went of, Kimi Raikonnen had a great start and he jumped up to second position before the first corner of the race and Lewis Hamilton was relegated to third position. Alonso started from tenth position and managed to carve up some positions in the start but Alonso found it hard to get past the BMW Sauber driver, Nick Heidfeld. Felipe Massa led the race and increased the gap between him and Kimi Raikonnen by some seconds. Kimi Raikonnen was a bit slow in the beginning of the race and Kimi slightly slower pace amounted to Lewis Hamilton's pace as well because Hamilton was held up behind Kimi Raikonnen and Hamilton couldn't get past him. After some laps Lewis Hamilton dropped quite a lot behind Kimi Raikonnen. Fernando Alonso tried ever so hard to over take Nick Heidfeld but he couldn't succeed.

After the first round of pit stops, there were no changes in the position and Felipe Massa was leading the race and Kimi Raikonnen was some seconds behind him. Lewis Hamilton was still in third place, Alonso still trying to get past Nick Heidfeld. The race went on and the leaders were getting into heavy traffic and Felipe Massa was held up by some back markers which helped Kimi Raikonnen gain on him just before the second pit stops. After the second round of pit stops, Kimi Raikonnen was leading the race (he must have been thanking the back markers) and Felipe Massa was in second position. Lewis Hamilton was still in third place and his World Champion team mate, Fernando Alonso was now trying to get past his former team mate at Renault, Giancarlo Fisichella as he dropped one position. Fernando Alonso still couldn't get passed Giancarlo Fisichella to take the sixth position and had to finish the race in seventh position.

Kimi Raikonnen was first to the checkered flag and Felipe Massa, Lewis Hamilton, Robert Kubica followed Raikonnen respectively.
