Doe Belly's Catfish Café is located at 300 W. Broad Street in Forney, Texas. It is just south of Pinson Road and there is plenty of parking space. It is catfish cooked the Cajun way and it is a huge hit in Forney! The restaurant was opened in October of 2009 by Patrick and Monica McCrea and has been going strong since then.

Doe Belly's is open from 11 A.M. to 9 P.M. Wednesday thru Saturday and Sunday's 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. Their phone number is 972-552-2119.

The interior of the restaurant is fairly small, with 7-8 tables and some window seats with seating for approximately 40 people. Most folks order ahead and pick it up or walk in, order, get their food and take it home. The interior is nice though and it's very clean. The service is great because they are fast and friendly at Doe Belly's.

One customer said this about Doe Belly's Catfish Cafe, "They have the absolute best fried shrimp and catfish on this planet period!" My own mom goes to Doe Belly's faithfully once a week to get her fried catfish fix. She loves the catfish; I'm more of a chicken tender fan (they sell those as well). The key to their success is that they don't have a huge menu, what they cook, they cook very well.

You can get a 2 piece catfish with 2 sides for $7.99, a very reasonable price. The side dishes are as good as the fish and shrimp, with choices of corn on the cob, dirty rice, red beans and more. They offer combo plates and also do grilled catfish, grilled shrimp and grilled tilapia. Even if you don't think you are hungry enough for a plate of catfish; you could try their delicious chicken and sausage jambalaya.

Doe Belly's Catfish Cafe also has "family packages" with 10-15 pieces of catfish or a catfish-shrimp combo. The prices for the big orders are $18-$32, and it comes with 2 side dishes. They have a few desserts such as chocolate cake and "5 flavor pound cake" for under $3. Doe Belly's also offers a catering service.

Doe Belly's customers are very loyal and tend to spread the word in the community about the great "fish place" in town. The owners are active in the community and have even held a food drive for the New Life Pantry in Forney. They have a fan page on Facebook, so check them out there as well!

If you live in Forney or you are just passing through, I would highly recommend you stop in for a bite to eat at Doe Belly's Catfish Cafe!

I'd opt for the chicken tenders, too. Catfish isn't my thing.
