Forney, Texas: Top 3 Burger Joints in Forney

You Can't Go Wrong Eating a Burger at These 3 Burger Joints!

Sherri Thornhill
Forney, Texas has approximately 15,000 residents and it's growing every day. Though we have our fair number of restaurants, we are not overwhelmed with them like the big cities. As for burger joints, we have the typical, Wendy's, McDonald's, Whataburger, and Sonic which are fine for a quick bite to eat. We also have a few restaurants/burger joints that have great atmospheres and even better burgers.

Brady's Burgers at 426 FM 548 Forney, Texas

Brady's Burgers is the quintessential "burger joint". They have the best burgers in town and can make them any way you like. Depending on what type of burger you get it will cost you between $5.49 (Brady's Original) to $8.29 (Big Bear Burger/double patties). These burgers are not cheap, but they are so tasty that it makes up for the slightly extra cost. The Captain Dave Burger with avocado, pepper jack cheese and chipotle sautéed onions is the most popular burger on the menu. This burger joint offers a casual atmosphere where you and friends can grab a burger and beer or you can take your kids to eat there and play in the arcade. In fact, kids eat free on Monday nights! They are open 7 days a week and open at 11 AM.

Time Out Sports Cafe at 104 E US Highway 80 # 120 Forney, Texas

Time Out Sports Café use to be known as Overtime Sports Bar. They have new owners now, but the casual, fun atmosphere is still the same as always. There is a small restaurant area and a larger bar/restaurant area inside Time Out Sports Cafe. This is still a great place for a good burger, pizza, sandwich or nachos. You can watch sports on the multiple TV's in the restaurant/bar and on weekend nights they have karaoke as well. The food prices are fair and you can get a good burger and fries for $5. If you are coming during the afternoon, this is a fine place to bring the kids. The nighttime crowd is much more adult oriented and louder. It is a great place to hang out with friends and it's my pick as the second best burger joint in Forney. They are open 7 days a week.

Chili's Grill & Bar 824 E Hwy 80 Forney, Texas

Though Chili's is a "chain restaurant", it is easily the most popular eatery in Forney. Whether you are looking to hang out in the bar area and catch up with friends, or you are looking for a menu with a wide variety of food, Chili's is a good pick. I would consider it a burger joint because their hamburgers (and Ribs) are the best food on the menu. They make a good burger at Chili's and for $7-8 you can get a giant burger and fries. I usually have to take half the burger home, they are that big. Chili's is fine for families as well and they offer a nice sized child's menu with food in the $5 range. They also offer as many refills on tea, coffee or sodas as you can drink!

Brady's Burgers beats Time Out and Chili's by far. The burgers are awesome and the atmosphere is just as good. If you compare Brady's prices to the fast food burger joints like Wendy's or McDonalds then yes they seem pricey. But compared to a $9 Chili's burger, their burgers are cheap. Chili's used to be a half pound and now are serving smaller burgers. Also Brady's has specials running all week even during lunch. Brady's has become a favorite for my family. Great Job Brady's Burgers!!!! And little Brady is pretty cute too.

We don't have "Whataburger" in Kansas City. We do have Chili's, though. It's gotta be a veggie burger for me to enjoy it. :)

North Texas in general has had a population boom. The cost of living is better here than many places, theunemployment is still relatively low and in Forney you get a great community of people, a nice small town life but with Dallas only 30 mins away when you crave a nightlife, museums, pro-sports. We get the best of both worlds here. Our sign entering Forney says, "Forney, where Dallas ends and living begins!" lol

I love Chili's chips and salsa! Sherri, what do you attribut to the boom experienced in Forney's population-wise?

  • Sherri Thornhill4/9/2010

Yeah Bobbi..when I moved here 4 years ago, there was about 7000-8000 people, it's boomed since then. When the Census stats are released I'll be curious what the latest update is. It's a great little town that doesn't feel as small as it is!lol

Wow, I had no idea how small Forney is. Sounds like there are a lot of burger joints for its size, and they all sound yummy.
