Fort Dobbs was an actual fort in the 1700s and to this day is a historical site in Statesville, North Carolina. It has always been kept as so. It was used for family outings for many many years. But things changed about four years ago. At that time it was decided to remodel the site to make it an annually weekend adventure. Even though the fort is open other times for the schools in North Carolina to use as a history field trip. Although there is hope that other schools from other nearby states will start to use it for field trips also.
