When you think of EMTs the word "hero" may come to mind, but not in the way that it went down on October 18 in Fort Greene.

At about 8:40 AM on the fateful day, two Brooklyn EMTs came to the aid of 26-year-old Evelina Losik near the Dekalb Avenue subway station entrance. Losik was approaching the entrance to the station when a mugger leapt at her from behind, grabbed her cell phone, and took off running.

Losik gave chase and so did Delano Williams and Rheinhold Danglade, the two heroic EMTs. Their main concern was preventing Losik from injury as she chased the thug down the street, so they jumped into high gear.

The dynamic duo hit their sirens and sped down the street only to encounter the construction along Flatbush Avenue. So, instead of giving up, they hopped out of the ambulance and ran after the suspect who eventually surrendered.

The paramedics restrained him until police arrived.
