Fort Lauderdale will be having a 4th of July fireworks show and other festivities starting at 1 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. on July 4th, 2011. There will be DJ's that will be providing entertainment and other games for residents and visitors. The actual fireworks show will not start until 9 p.m. The fireworks show is free and can be seen up and down the Intracoastal Waterway. The fireworks will be ignited off barges that will be in the Intracoastal Waterway. The event will last approximately 30 minutes.

The beach at Ft. Lauderdale will be hopping with lots of people celebrating Independence Day. There will be parking at numerous locations throughout the beach area and most will be at a nominal fee. You can park at East Las Olas Boulevard and Las Olas Circle at $1.25 an hour from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. Fort Lauderdale Beach Parking Lot costs $1.75 an hour from 5 a.m. till 2 a.m. If you don't feel like parking somewhere you can always jump on the water taxi that operates in Fort Lauderdale and catch the fireworks show from there. If you're on the outskirts of Ft. Lauderdale beach you can jump aboard the Sun Trolley and they'll drop you off in the heart of the action.

Fort Lauderdale fireworks show on the beach is geared toward families. There will be numerous things to do as you enjoy the Florida sunshine and wait until the sky is lit up with fireworks. There will be vendor's set-up along the beach area that will be selling everything from shirts to food.

This is an amazing event and you'll really enjoy the warm beach as you take in the 4th of July events. Also, for those that like to party, many bars will be hopping and offering specials all throughout the night in Fort Lauderdale. However, be safe and don't drive drunk. The city's police force will be out in full force this night keeping everyone safe.

Remember, traffic will be really heavy during this time and if at all possible you should walk or catch the trolley. If you hit the bars after the fireworks show gets a designated driver or at least call a taxi. Also, if you're out on the beach during the day on the 4th of July, drink plenty of water because the Florida sun is hot and you'll get dehydrated.

Enjoy the show and what Fort Lauderdale has to offer!
