Fort Michilimackinac - a Trip into the Past

Fort Michilimackinac

Mackinaw City, MI 49701
United States of America
On a recent trip to the Mackinac Bridge, my family and I stopped by Fort Michilimackinac. Fort Michilimackinac is an historical landmark in Mackinaw City, Michigan.

Fort Michilimackinac originally was a 18th century French trading post, but later become a British trading post. Originally built around 1715, Fort Michilimackinac is now a National Historic Landmark.

Unless most landmarks, Fort Michilimackinac will take you back to the past with an old fashion interactive play. The fort also includes cannon firing and musket firing.

As you walk through the Fort, all employees are dressed in clothing from the 18th century, making the feel of Fort Michilimackinac a blast from the past.

You can see how they lived, how they cooked, and even how they punished those bad soldiers.

For about an hour walk through, the price is a little high. For an adult it is $10.50, whole a child 5 and up are $6.00. However, if you love historical sites, and you are looking to take a trip that is educational, Fort Michilimackinac is a beautiful place to visit. However, if you view more then just one part, you will get a discount.

While you are there, you can visit the light house, look upon the beauty of the Mackinac Bridge and walk the straits of Mackinac that connects Lake Michigan and Lake Huron.

If you would like information on Colonial Michilimackac you can visit there webiste.

Historic places all across America are in jeopardy if the people don't continue to visit them. I love them! What a wealth of information and historical beauty they add to America's landscape. Cheers ;)
