Fortel's Pizza Den: A St. Louis Pizzeria You Have to Try!

Fortel's Pizza Den, Inc. is a family-owned and -operated restaurant in the metro St. Louis area. It is known in and St. Louis and across the country as one of the best mom-and-pop Pizzerias and has been honored by numerous printed publications. If you've ever eaten a Fortel's pizza, you can understand why it deserves such accolades.

In 1981, Bob Fortel bought a local pizza place in Affton, Missouri and named it Fortel's Pizza Den. After many years of hard work by the Fortel family the franchise has grown and expanded to ten additional locations in Arnold, Ballwin, Bridgeton, Creve Coeur, Eureka, Festus, Florissant, Kirkwood, O'Fallon and Fairview Heights, Illinois.

Fortel's pizza is outstanding. They make the dough fresh everyday, and use only 100% mozzarella cheese. The crust is thin and there are so many toppings to choose from. You can customize your own pizza or try one of the Family Specials. Nessa's Corned Beef Reuben Deluxe, Fred's Philly Cheese Steak Deluxe, Bayley's Spicy Buffalo Chicken Deluxe, and Jan's Taco Deluxe are a few of the unique topping combinations offered. One of my personal favorites is Jeff's BBQ Chicken Deluxe which is delectable! It is the perfect combination of chicken, BBQ sauce, caramelized onions, and mozzarella cheese on thin crust. Yum! The prices start at $7.99 for a small and the family size is $14.49. There are additional charges for extra toppings and specialty pizzas.

In addition to pizza, Fortel's Pizza Den offers a wide variety of menu items. Choose an appetizer such as the beer battered mushrooms or onion rings, garlic cheese bread, chicken wings, or toasted ravioli, a St. Louis tradition. Enjoy delicious pasta and a house salad with black olives, cheese, bacon, and sweet Italian dressing. There are many great sandwiches to choose from including the Roast Beef and Gravy, Meatball Sub, or the Hot-n-Spicy Shrimp Poor Boy. A nice selection of beer and wine are available as well as both Coke and Pepsi products. You can save your cup and bring it back for $1 fountain drink refills.

Fortel's Pizza Den offers an outdoor seating area at the Affton location with over 100 seats, and meeting and party rooms at several of the restaurants. They offer a catering menu, delivery, and take-out. Call ahead, place your order and they will deliver it or have it ready when you arrive.
