Fortune: Best Stable in Wrestling Today

While there may be a lot of stables out there in wrestling today, Fortune is the best one of the bunch for a number of reasons. But the main thing you look at when it comes to stables is talent and that is just what Fortune has. If you look at the other stables in wrestling today, you see inexperience and wrestlers past their prime.

Take for instance WWE's current major stable, Nexus. Nexus consists of seven former wrestlers who competed on season 1 of NXT (not counting Daniel Bryan because he isn't on Nexus anymore). They have virtually no in-ring experience in the WWE and all came up through FCW. They have perhaps one main eventer in the pack, being Wade Barrett, and the rest are average or below average at best. WWE may have built them up well and made them look somewhat dominant, but they don't have the talent to go far or last long.

Now look at the other stable currently in TNA, Extreme Version 2.0 (or EV2 for short). This stable consists of ECW wrestlers that used to wrestle under the ECW promotion in the late 90's. Some of the members of this stable are Mick Foley, Sabu, Sandman, Stevie Richards, Tommy Dreamer, Team 3D, and others. No disrespect to any of the ECW originals but all of these guys are past their prime, and have seen better days. They are basically in it for the paycheck, and this stable won't go far or last that long either.

That brings us to the last stable of the bunch, Fortune. Fortune was Ric Flair's idea, and compared the new stable to another stable that Flair was an instrumental part in, The Four Horsemen. The reason what makes Fortune such a good stable is the mixture of the past, present, and future. That is why people are making comparisons of Fortune to Evolution, one of the greatest stables of all time, and another stable that Flair was a part of. Let's take a look at the current members of Fortune and what they have accomplished in their careers.

Ric Flair: Arguably the greatest wrestler of all time, Ric Flair is a sixteen time World Champion and leader of the Fortune stable. Flair has done it all in the wrestling business, and seen it all. He is also one of the most recognizable and popular wrestlers in history. Flair made his official debut in TNA in January 2010. It was Flair's first television appearance in a wrestling ring since he lost his retirement match against Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 24. He helped then world champion AJ Styles defeat Kurt Angle in a title match, and the partnership between the two was born. Flair represents the past of the group, and serves as a mentor to the entire stable.

AJ Styles: The greatest wrestler in wrestling today as voted by Pro Wrestling Illustrated this year, AJ Styles is a four time World Champion and the only Grand Slam Champion in TNA history. Styles was Ric Flair's protege from the beginning of Flair's time in TNA, and not surprisingly, was the first member admitted into the Fortune stable. Flair has on many occasions labeled Styles as the best wrestler he has ever witnessed in his entire career, and compared him to Arn Anderson, who was "The Enforcer" in the Four Horsemen. Styles is the current TNA Television Champion and represents the present of the group. The stable is basically being built around him.

Kazarian: The man who has the most potential in the entire group is Kazarian. Flair first took notice of Kazarian after he won an X Division battle royal to earn a spot in the TNA rankings, and weeks later was the second member added to the Fortune stable. Even though Kazarian and AJ Styles had a rocky relationship from the start, they put aside their differences and have since formed a union of their own. Kaz even helped AJ Styles win the Television title from Rob Terry. Kazarian is a former three time X Division Champion, and represents the future of the group.

Beer Money, Inc.: One of the greatest tag teams in professional wrestling today, Beer Money, Inc. (Robert Roode and James Storm) were the third and fourth members of the Fortune stable. Flair gave them both spots on the roster because of their Best Of Five Series with the Motor City Machine Guns, and because of what they had already accomplished in TNA. Beer Money is the most successful tag team in TNA history, having won the tag team titles a total of three times, during the two short years that they have been a tag team.

Douglas Williams: One of the newest additions to Fortune, Douglas Williams is the current X Division champion, having won the belt twice. Williams earned his spot into the stable when he interfered in the Flair vs. Lethal street fight match, helping Flair win. The next week on Impact, he was added to the group. Williams has been in TNA for over two years, and in that short amount of time, has been aligned with the British Invasion and World Elite. He is also a former TNA Tag Team Champion with Brutus Magnus.

Matt Morgan: The other newest addition of the Fortune stable and the personal bodyguard of Ric Flair, Matt Morgan is a seven foot goliath, and a good wrestler to boot. Morgan is a former TNA Tag Team Champion as well, having held the title with Hernandez, and then himself. Morgan got his start in Total Nonstop Action in 2007, being Jim Cornette's backup and bodyguard, before making his wrestling debut the following year, forming a team with Abyss and later Hernandez. Morgan fought for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship at No Surrender 2009 in a Fatal Four Way, but didn't win.

Fortune is still in its infancy as a group, being less than two months old since their formation, yet they have already captivated the wrestling audience and have proven to be the best thing currently in TNA, and dare I say it, the best thing in wrestling.
