As a suburban Mom of two, it sometimes can be difficult to make the trek to the big city but every time I get out of my comfort zone, I am so glad I did. Cincinnati has so much to offer for families and the newly renovated Fountain Square has something for everyone. Not only is Fountain Square a great focal point for our city with the beautiful Tyler Davidson Fountain, it also has so many upcoming family-friendly events that you don't want to miss and these are all FREE.

If you want to enjoy a drive-in atmosphere (minus the cars) then check out P&G's Movies on the Square on Saturday nights. BYOC - bring your own chairs and blankets and spread out on the square for some family time under the stars. There'll be snack and drink vendors on site so you'll have plenty of munchies to enjoy. Movie previews start at 7:00pm and then there are usually two showings, 7:30 and 9:30 pm. The movies run through September 12th so there are plenty of chances to get there. All the movies are rated PG. You can check out the movie listings at www.MyFountainSquare.com.

If you can't make it to the movies, but you want to see what Cincinnati has to offer on a Saturday afternoon, then make sure you go to the bigg's Family Days beginning May 30 to Aug. 1 at 1:00pm. There will be kid-friendly activities for children ages 10 and younger incorporating playground games, dance, story- telling, arts and crafts, children's entertainment and so much more. While you're there, visit Graeter's for some delicious ice cream treats. You can also take in the amazing views of Cincinnati by heading to the top of the Carew Tower.

If music is your passion, there are some awesome upcoming FREE concerts on the square. PNC Summer Music Series happens almost every day of the week with a revolving series of musicians. On Sundays sit back and listen to blues and country. On World Wide Wednesdays enjoy music from around the globe. Thursdays is a perfect time to get your groove on with some saucy Salsa sounds. There'll be dance instructors on hand to help you with those awesome Latin beats. Fridays begin with Indie and alternative bands followed by local singer/songwriters. On Sundays you may be fortunate enough to hear some uplifting Gospel music as well as some smooth jazz. Enjoy the musical smorgasbord from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Wow!

Hopefully, this will have sparked your interest to visit the heart of our beautiful city. If you need recommendations on other family-friendly activities, events or programs in the Greater Cincinnati area then visit MasonMetu. I have some Family Outing Days or FOD's as we like to call them that can give you other great Cincinnati adventures to embark upon.

Fountain Square is locted at the corner of Fifth & Vine Streets in downtown Cincinnati.
