Four Amazing Dogs

Stephanie Modkins
Think your dog is amazing? Before you go off bragging to friends, find out about a few of his peers. The following four canines are shining stars. You will be surprised at what they can and have done.

Ricochet
Ricochet is a Golden Retriever who is a real life angel. For the past couple of years, this canine has been raising funds to help humans living with disabilities. How? She surfs in competitions and works as a service dog. Ricochet's latest client is a young boy named Ian McFarland who suffers from a brain injury. Not only has she helped peak his interest in going out on the water again, this amazing dog also brought in $7,500 for treatment.

Gucci

Gucci is a Chow-Husky who was hung by the neck, tortured and set on fire by a group of cruel, young people in 1994. At the time of the event, he was just a puppy. Fortunately, his story traveled all over the world inspiring the Pet Protection Act called Gucci's Law. It made first-degree cruelty to a dog or cat a felony. Until March of 2010, Gucci spent his time in the public eye with his owner, reminding people - especially children - of the importance of being kind to animals. His life serves as a memorial for those who have a lot to overcome.

Tillamook
Tillamook Cheddar is a Jack Russell that paints. Yes! She does abstract expressionist paintings, drawings and etchings with his teeth and claws. Her owner, Bowman Hastie, discovered her talent by accident when she was just a pup. This amazing dog began scratching on a legal pad, which inspired Hastie to expand on her talent. The rest - as they say - is history. Tillamook has earned thousand of dollars for her work over the years along with a strong following of fans.

Maggie
Maggie is another amazing dog that happens to be a Jack Russell. What can she do? This canine can count, add, subtract and multiply. Her abilities are so keen and mind blowing that she's even had a spot on Oprah. Maggie has found a way to do something that many humans struggle with all of their lives. She proves that some dogs not only can learn, but also often are just as intelligent as two-leggers.

Taking a second look at your pet dog? These four amazing dogs can make their peers look like simpletons. Or, they can just show us (humans) the full potential of a dog whose talent or mission is discovered.
