Four Bachelorette Party Ideas for the Tame Bride

When most people think a bachelorette party, they think of Chippendale dancers, margaritas, and six women crammed into a limo recreating their own version of "Girl's Gone Wild". While this is just a stereotype of a bride's last fling before settling into a married life, there are many fun things a tame bride can do with her best gal pals that don't include any of the above madness. Here are four party ideas.

One: Who says a bachelorette party can't encompass an entire weekend? Pick a weekend a few weeks before the wedding and whisk the bride and her girls off to a spa. Not only will the bride be thankful for a weekend off from the hectic planning leading up to the big event, but she will get to relax in the company of her closest friends. Many resorts offer packages for groups that offer massages, pedicures, facials, and manicures. Some even offer discounts on food or free champagne. If your local resort does not, try talking to a coordinator to see about putting one together. Many will cater to your specific needs. With a group coming to stay for a night or two, the resort gets an opportunity to shine and book potential individual customers for the future, which is good for their business.

Two: A shopping scavenger hunt is an unusual but fun way for a bride to spend a day with her friends! Pick a local shopping venue, such as an outdoor pavilion or mall, and break up into groups of two. Give group a list of preplanned wedding themed items to find, such as a diamond ring paperweight or advertising for an engagement ring, and a disposable camera. Allow the teams to find as many items on the list and fill up the camera with memorable and sometimes hilarious photos with each of the items, and meet at a specific time. Have the photos developed while enjoying lunch as a group, and then see which team won. This gives the bride a variety of good photos of her best friends, and can lead to a lot of laughter and a good time for all.

Three: Become domestic goddesses by hiring a personal chef to come in and teach the group how to cook. Try several meal types (breakfasts, lunches, or dinners) or stick to just one central theme. Not only will the groom be appreciative after the wedding, the bride will have spent a day laughing and cooking with her closest gal pals.

Four: Gather the bride and her ladies up and go to a wine tasting. This is the perfect way to tamely incorporate drinking into a bachelorette celebration without the event coming off as wild. Call local vineyards or restaurants and see if they have any upcoming events, or want to create one for the party. Just like resorts, many will be pleased to offer discounts for a group as it gives them a chance to shine for potential individual customers later.

No matter what you decide to do, have fun! Remember, this is a celebration of the bride and her closest friendships so relax and enjoy.
