Four Classic Events and Festivals

There are numerous exciting and economical things to do in Wilkes-Barre and Luzerne County Pennsylvania. There are also classic institutions to visit and enjoy such as the Luzerne County Historical Society and the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Yankees.

There are also some classic events which are really enjoyed here and can be duplicated in just about every community,

Farmers Market

First is the Wilkes Barre Farmers Market. This event start in the Spring and ends in the fall. The market is held in downtown Wilkes-Barre on Public Square itself. As you would expect, local farmers bring their produce to market for sale and distribution. Of course, it is also a great social occasion so there is also live entertainment every week. Area institutions such the local library or local government agencies set up booths and displays, and citizens can acquire a lot of information and brochures.

The Fine Arts Festival

The Fine Arts Fiesta is another classic event in Wilkes-Barre. It is also held on Public Square in Wilkes-Barre. It is amazing how many talented artists and photographers we have in Northeasters Pennsylvania. They bring many outstanding paintings and pictures for display and sale. Of course there is also food and entertainment.

Cherry Blossom Festival

Every spring Wilkes-Barre celebrates the Cherry Blossom Festival. There are games, rides, entertainment and food for an entire weekend at Kirby Park.

Riverfest

Every June Riverfest is celebrated with events scheduled for an entire weekend in and around the Susquehanna River. There is boating and racing on the river, and entertainment, games, and food along the river.
