Four Easy Recipes for Students

Sabrina Ricci
Students often do not have the time to cook elaborate meals. When I was in college, I barely had enough time to even eat regularly. So, for students strapped for time, here are four quick and easy recipes.

Spaghetti

As far as ingredients go, you will need pasta, half an onion, several garlic cloves (exact amount depends on how much you like garlic), three or four tomatoes, olive oil, half a pound of ground beef, and a jar of marinara sauce.

Chop up the onion, garlic, and tomatoes, and then sauté them in a pan with olive oil until the onion turns a golden brown. Next, fry the ground beef using olive oil. Make sure the beef turns brown.

Put the beef, onions, garlic, and tomatoes in a pot. Then pour half of the marinara sauce into the pot and cover it. Let it simmer for about 20 minutes. In the meantime, boil a pot of water and cook the pasta. The whole meal should take about 30-35 minutes to prepare, but most of that time is spent waiting.

Chicken and Pasta

All you need for this Brazilian dish are six chicken legs, half an onion, several garlic cloves, three or four tomatoes, olive oil, one can of chicken broth, and pasta.

Chop up the onion, garlic, and tomatoes, and then sauté them in a pan with olive oil until the onion turns a golden brown. Put the onion, garlic, and tomato is a pot. Next, pour the chicken broth into the same pot. Fill up the empty can with water and pour that into the pot as well.

Place the chicken legs into the mixture, and then cover the pot. Let simmer for 20 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked. You can check by cutting off a piece of the chicken and making sure the inside is not pink.

While you wait for the chicken to be ready, boil a pot of water and cook the pasta. When everything is done, mix the chicken and pasta together.

Tunaroni

Some people prefer to call this dish tuna-mac, and use macaroni and cheese. However, I like to use pasta, milk, a can of tuna, and a can of cream of mushroom soup.

Boil a pot of water and cook the pasta. When it is done, drain the pot. Now mix in the tuna, cream of mushroom soup, and some milk into the pasta. This takes all of 10 minutes and it is delicious!

Ramen-with a twist

Tired of just eating plain ramen? All you need to do is add some spinach and Vienna sausages, and it tastes much better. Plus you might feel healthier knowing you are eating spinach.
