The #1 Best Reason to Live in La Grande - No Gangs and No Graffiti!
I do not know about you, but I really think there is a great sense of rock solid security and well-being whenever you live in a small town where I do not have to worry about drive-by shootings and noticing the sides of beautiful historic buildings desiccated with spray painted graffiti. YUCK! Why live in a gigantic metro city universe where you are always in danger of coming into sudden contact with gangs, drugs, violence, shootings, and possible homicidal murderers on the streets?
That is why I love living in La Grande. It is small and unique and our local police force hardly ever has to draw their handguns, or shotguns, or M14 assault rifles, or even fire them at anything. It sure is nice living in a small rural eastern Oregon town like La Grande where you never have to worry about accidentally walking into a sudden downtown firefight between rival gangs and the local police department. Thank goodness for small, quite and peaceful living in La Grande, Oregon!
The #2 Best Reason to Live in La Grande - No Stalkers or Lunatics to Harass You!
One of the best reasons to live in La Grande is that you are not likely to run into somebody who is a stalker or a mentally insane lunatic who is screaming verbal profanities at himself and ripping his clothes off in the middle of a crowded aisle inside Wal-Mart. You also do not have to worry about suddenly encountering any gun slinging, trigger-happy male teenagers who got angry because the cute little chick standing behind the counter at McDonald's messed up their order and refused to give them her Sprint cell phone number and the time of day.
You can also relax and feel at ease knowing that if you encounter a nice looking stranger of the opposite sex on the streets of downtown La Grande, you are not going to discover that you are suddenly talking instead to an undercover police detective or a prostitute. Somebody who could be looking to score something from you that might legally incriminate you for the rest of your life.
On the streets of La Grande, you also will not find any homeless people or smelly looking strangers suddenly approaching you and asking for some pocket change. Nope, the worst thing you might ever discover in downtown La Grande is the occasional nasty looking pile of horse manure, in which case you should always be careful where you step.
The #3 Best Reason to Live in La Grande - Nobody Cares Who You Really Are!
Most average people would associate small rural towns like La Grande as seriously overpopulated with neighbors and senior citizens who love to stick their nose into everybody else's business, except for their own.
However, nothing could be further from the truth! Here in La Grande, you have lots of freedom to be whoever you want to be in this world, so long as you do not break the common laws of American society and you do not draw any sudden attention to yourself by the news media or the local police force.
As long as you keep your nose clean and carefully mind your own business, nobody in La Grande really cares about whom you are, where you live, how you choose to live, or how or why you choose to make a living. As you can see, the rules here in La Grande are very simple and even easier to follow everyday. That is another reason why I just love living in a small town.
The #4 Best Reason to Live in La Grande - Everybody Loves Our Senior Citizens!
Now, La Grande does have its population of younger adults and teenagers who just dread the fact that their parents chose to raise them in a small town like La Grande, Oregon. A place that obviously is not as culturally diversified as a major city like Los Angeles.
As a result, La Grande often loses a majority of its younger population every year after they graduate from high school and become immature young adults who are unseasoned about the real world and all the strange and lurking sinful desires that wait for them in the hidden form of alcohol, sexual encounters and sexually transmitted diseases...oh, my!
What La Grande loses every year from the massive wanderings of their young adult population after they graduate from high school, it more then makes up for the yearly increase of its aging senior citizen population. Most of us have been taught to respect our elders while growing up and that is no different with today's generation here in La Grande.
The senior citizens in my small town automatically earn respect for their longevity in life and the enormous culmination of wisdom they have garnered over the past 80 or 90 decades. We truly love our senior citizen population in La Grande and our senior citizens love us very much in return. Where but in a small town like La Grande could you feel such an abundance of immediate love and respect for each other from one generation to the next.
There you have it, folks. Those are my four good reasons why I know that La Grande, Oregon is a wonderful place to live for a small town. Do not take my word for it, though. If you ever have the chance to visit La Grande someday, please do so and experience the warmth, the freedom and the ultimate joy of what living in a small town can do to increase the overall longevity of your life and always put a smile on your face everyday.
