Four Ideas for Hair Styles for Parties

Rochelle Connery
If you need hair styles for parties that don't take forever to do, these ideas will get you out the door and having fun in no time flat. After all, who wants to spend precious partying time in front of a mirror while trying to create and impossible style?

Poufy ponytail: Spice up your average ponytail with ridiculous amounts of volume. Not at the top of your head, like Snooki, but in the tail itself. Slick your dry hair back with some mousse and a comb. Take your comb and small pieces of your ponytail; back-comb these ponytail pieces so you have lots of ratted sections in the ponytail. Put two elastic bands in the ponytail body: one in the very middle, and one at the bottom. This will create two spheres of puffy hair that are an accessory all on their own.

Perky side ponytail: Create lots of volume everywhere and pair it with a silky bow or silk scarf over top of the elastic ponytail holder. Start by putting some texture in your hair. You might braid your hair when wet, let it dry and take them out to expose the waves. Or, if your hair is naturally wavy, scrunch it with mousse and a diffuser. Then, back-comb the hair near your scalp all over your head. Loosely gather all the hair to one side, then tie it with an elastic holder.

Random skinny braids: One of the hottest hair styles for parties is the skinny braid look. The trick to pulling off this hair style is keeping your hair super-straight and shiny wherever it's not braided. Then, put half-inch braids in random places. Frame your face, pull one out from beneath all the layers of hair and make sure at least one drapes over your shoulder. Spritz your hair with shine spray to polish off the look.

The headband: Top off hair styles for parties with a wide headband. Whether it's a silk scarf or a regular behind-the-ear headband, it doesn't matter as long as it's wide and colorful. If you choose the scarf variation, you can tie the knot beneath your hair or at one side of your neck.
