Four Love Poems for Valentine's Day

Cheryl Williams

Here We Are

Here we are,

kissed by angels…

lost in a moment.

If time could stop

this would be the place,

where all is sacred,

where all is revealed.

This secret language

says more than anyone

who has come before

or anyone who will follow.

Your touch says more

than a thousand words.

Your eyes speak

ancient truths.

Pressed against you,

all thought takes flight.

Your fingers tangle in my hair,

your mouth devours me,

My eyelashes are wet with your dew.

My rosy buds strain against

my blouse,

begging to be free,

longing for your honey lips.

This moment promises more,

yet begs never to be forgotten.

This moment is ours,

conceived of tender yearnings,

born of passion's promise.

Love of a Lifetime

We have traveled a lifetime

to be here in this place…

I am dizzy from the wanting.

So many years have passed,

and I am saddened that

fate saw for us to wait.

All that we were,

all that has brought us here

has readied us for beauty such as this.

Still, I feel so many breaths

have been wasted,

so much love has been squandered.

It was always yours.

I just didn't realize it yet.

It was only when I felt you

wrap yourself around me,

that I knew.

It was only when I washed you

in my tears

that I knew.

It was only when you

begged for my rage and pain

that I knew.

It was only when you

embraced both woman and child

that I knew.

You pull me into you

and our hearts beat together,

strong and sure.

Our souls collided

and the world changed.

I do not know how many days

we will be gifted with,

but this much is certain.

We have known love.

MY EVERYTHING

You fall into my empty spaces;

I cradle you with my love,

envelope you with my softness,

and give your heart a rest.

How easy we flow!

How easy this is,

being with you...

No tomorrows,

no yesterdays;

Just this moment

of wanting,

needing,

giving,

tasting the salt of your skin;

How easy we flow

as I give rise

to your need;

Sweet man of mine,

lover, friend...

You are my

everything.

Soul Desire

If I could crawl inside your skin for a moment,

would this yearning cease?

All I want, all I need

is to breathe you in,

taste myself on your lips,

feel your skin tremble as if my own.

Sometimes when we are entwined,

I cannot tell where I begin and you end.

Your mouth paints my body with dew;

Your breath, a gentle wind fanning the flame of desire.

Every pore of my being

cries out for you,

and if I could lose myself in you

that would be my dearest demise.
