Four Musical Icons I Would Love to See Performed on GLEE

In season one of the mega-hit Glee, they paid homage to music icons (and icons in the making) Madonna and Lady Gaga. In episode two of season two, the show gave props to Britney Spears. The following are artists that I think the kids in New Directions should pay homage to next.

Motown Greats - We got a taste of Motown in season one when Quinn (Dianna Agron) performed "Keep Me Hanging On" by The Supremes, but an entire episode featured the songs of Motown would be nothing but goodness. I can imagine Rachel (Lea Michele) and Finn (Corey Monteith) singing a sweet rendition of Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell's "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing." And nothing could compare to Mercedes (Amber Riley) belting out a soulful rendition of "I Heard it Through the Grapevine." And who wouldn't love to see Santana (Naya Rivera) perform a sassy and sexy rendition of Mary Well's classic "My Guy." A Motown episode of Glee would be the perfect example of taking something old and making it new again.

Mariah Carey - I am literally dying for the day that the announcement is made that Glee will shoot a Mariah Carey tribute episode. There are dozens of scenarios and songs by "The Voice" that I would love to see. "Always Be My Baby" is a definite must for a Mariah tribute. And no one could perform it better than Rachel (with the Cheerios singing back-up of course). I would also love to see Sue (Jane Lynch) make her way through a tongue in cheek rendition of the self-absorbed"Obsessed." And given Mr. Schuester's (Matthew Morrison) incessant need to rap, I could see him taking a turn a rapper Jay-Z to Emma's (Jayma Mays) on the song "Heartbreaker." And The New Directions glee club would definitely make Mariah proud with a heartfelt rendition of the underdog anthem "Hero."

The Rolling Stones - Who doesn't love The Stones? No one that I know. I think the New Directions gang has the energy and vocal chops to carry out an entire episode featuring the songs on the world's greatest rockers. I would have Kurt (Chris Colfer) take the lead on "Satisfaction." His boisterous personality and outrageous vocal range make him the perfect mini-Jagger. And Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz) could deliver a sentimental rendition of the oft-covered classic "Wild Horses."

Michael Jackson - What could be more perfect than the kids of New Directions paying homage to the King of Pop? Not much in my opinion. I would love to see cheerleader Brittany (Heather Morris) and dancer Mike Chang (Harry Shum Jr.) perform Michael and Janet Jackson's iconic "Scream." The choreography alone would be epic and in capable hands with the two performers who are hands down the most talented dancers. Puck (Mark Salling) could perform "Man in The Mirror" in atonement for whatever "jerk move" he pulls during the episode. It would be his redemption song (a la Chris Brown on the BET Awards...minus the uncontrollable tears). "Wanna Be Starting Something" performed by Mercedes, "The Way You Make Me Feel" by Finn and "Bad" by Artie (Kevin McHale)would all be major showstoppers. Lastly, a group medley of "The Earth Song," "Heal The World" and "Will You Be There" would be an amazing finale song.

Hopefully, we will be seeing some of these performances in the near future.
