So which Playstation RPGs from the past should come to the PSP next? Here are four suggestions.
Grandia
Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment, Developer: Game Arts, Original Release Date: September 30, 1999, ESRB Rating: E
The original Sega Saturn RPG was ported to the Playstation in 1999. Playstation fans got a treat as Grandia offers a lengthy adventure with many charming characters and memorable moments. The combat is also considered to be one of the best in history for a RPG with its unique timing-based elements that takes into account the surround area as well. The frantic combat makes it perfect for the portable PSP.
Legend of Legaia
Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment, Developer: Contrail, Original Release Date: March 17, 1999, ESRB Rating: E
Legend of Legaia is all about the complex battle system. Instead of simply attacking, you must input fighting game like commands in order to perform a combination. The probable PSP game also utilizes a unique magic system in which you learn spells from defeated enemies. The simple yet engrossing storyline will keep you going all the way to the end of the epic RPG adventure.
The Legend of Dragoon
Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment, Developer: Sony Computer Entertainment, Original Release Date: June 11, 2000, ESRB Rating: T
The Legend of Dragoon is Sony's RPG answer to the Final Fantasy series. The high production value, especially the pre-rendered visuals, needed four CDs to contain. The Legend of Dragoon also includes a non-traditional battle system in which you have to press the button at exactly the right moment to score another hit within an attack combination. Even after nine years, this would still be one of the most ambitious RPGs on the PSP..
Xenogears
Publisher: Square, Developer: Square, Original Release Date: October 21, 1998, ESRB Rating: T
While Square were more known for their Final Fantasy games, their best RPG title may have come in the form of Xenogears. This mature RPG tells a deep tale full of symbolism and mythology. The giant mech battles in addition to the epic scope also made Xenogears better than almost every other RPGs. While it wasn't as popular as Final Fantasy, Square should still be able to sell plenty of copies on the PSP due to the game's excellent reputation alone.
