Four Reasons the Super Bowl is the Biggest Sporting Event

There is no denying the fact that the Super Bowl is the biggest sporting event in North America. It receives the highest television ratings every single year, and it also gets corporations to empty their wallets to spend on advertising. The football fanatics are obviously going to watch, but this is an event where nearly everyone stops what they are doing to watch. How did the Super Bowl get so popular? Let's take a look at the four biggest reasons for the popularity of this event.

Top Four Reasons the Super Bowl is the Most Popular Sporting Event

1. The National Football League is King- It certainly doesn't hurt at all when the NFL is by far the most popular league in all of sports. Fans love the hard hitting action of the NFL, and the Super Bowl is the biggest game of the season. Two teams have had to play their way through a grueling schedule to reach this big game, and the quality of football played in this game is usually terrific. Every single game during the season builds up to this climactic finish.

2. Great Brand Name- Let's face it, the NFL has done a terrific job building a terrific brand name for the Super Bowl. Maybe it is because I have a background in finance, but I definitely know how important a brand name can be. Over the years the league has done such a great job that people all over the world now associate the Super Bowl with the word great.

3. Entertainment and Parties- The Super Bowl has turned into a perfect excuse for people to get together with friends, and that always helps the popularity of an event. If you are like most people, you've been invited to dozens of Super Bowl parties over the years. Entertainment and extra time with those you care about is important, and that certainly helps build the popularity of this event.

4. The Advertisements- Why do people who don't care one ounce about football watch the Super Bowl? The advertisements are top-notch and there is always some water cooler discussion at work on Monday about which advertisement was the best. Corporations pour money into these advertisements and it can make or break a business.

The Super Bowl has become the biggest sporting event in North America. If you consider these four reasons, it isn't surprising that this event has become such a big deal!
