Four Reasons Why Eva Longoria Should Be on VH1's "Basketball Wives"

Eva Longoria's divorce announcement came as a great big surprise to lots of people-including her San Antonio Spurs NBA player hubby, Tony Parker. The two appeared to enjoy a fairytale romance. But like many Hollywood couples, the façade was publicly shattered. Now that Eva has joined the ranks of several NBA divorcees, she is free to explore many different life options. She's already got a good job with ABC's "Desperate Housewives"; but that doesn't mean she can't enjoy the wonderful benefits of reality TV world. Here are a few reasons why she should join the cast of VH1's "Basketball Wives."

Filling an Opening...

With Evelyn Lozada reportedly engaged to NFL star Chad Ochocinco, she'll probably head on over to "Football Wives"-leaving a slot open for Eva. It's getting a little hard to keep up with all of these reality shows featuring unhappy spouses. But there is always room for at least one more scorned wife.

Real Wives Need Not Apply...

None of the Basketball Wives are really wives anyway. Eva, having enjoyed an enchanted existence with hubby Tony Parker, would perhaps be one of the more "legitimate" wives on the show. Certainly, the cocktail lunches will be filled with patter about all the magical times she and Tony shared. As a result, the other wives would throw her much shade. Yes, Eva's presence on "Basketball Wives" would certainly be a ratings booster.

Misery Loves Company

Most of VH1's hit show seems focused on how miserable the wives are. Their cheating former NBA spouses (or boyfriends) are very often the subjects of conversation. Indeed, there is a lot of pent-up anger on "Basketball Wives." Eva would fit right in.

They can rename the show "Desperate Basketball Housewives."

Eva Longoria would perhaps be the most famous of all the basketball wives (with the exception of Shaunie O'Neal.) Her legendary portrayal of Gabrielle Solis earned her a Golden Globe nomination and plenty of international recognition. The women of "Basketball Wives" may not exactly be desperate. But they could certainly learn a thing or two from saucy Gabrielle.
