Four New Restaurants Coming to West Melbourne/Palm Bay

New Restaurants Soon to Tickle the Taste Buds of Local Diners

Ron Masters

Four new restaurants are in the works for the West Melbourne/Palm Bay area - three of them within rock throwing distance of each other. The corner of Palm Bay Road and Norfolk Parkway (where Culver Road ends) will soon change dramatically as more construction begins within the Hammock Landing shopping plaza. (See Google maps)

Hammock Landing's Newest Restaurants

The initial scoop on the new eateries came while visiting Moe's Southwestern Grill located in Hammock Landing. My wife and I were enjoying the food and delightful outdoor dining area one evening when one of Moe's managers rushed past and began tidying up the area. He chatted with us while he hustled from table to table, and then surprised me with a pop quiz question. "Guess what's going in right there?" he asked, pointing to the immediate south where an empty, undeveloped field sat.

We shrugged our shoulders.

"Longhorn Steak House."

"Seriously?" I sat up straighter. I had heard nothing about this.

"Oh, and next to that will be a Krystal Burgers. You know, those really tiny hamburgers."

I hadn't had a Krystal burger in many, many years, as none were nearby.

Later, and since I was curious, I phoned the Longhorn restaurant located in The Avenues in Viera and asked about a potential Palm Bay (really West Melbourne) location. "Yes, we do have one coming to the Hammock Landing plaza," was the reply. Well, hot dog! Uh, I mean, hot steak!

The same news was true when I called and spoke to a Titusville Krystal's worker. "You mean the Melbourne area?" the employee said. "Yes, they're opening a Krystals down there off of Palm Bay Road." Well, all right!

Having two new restaurants was fabulous, but I soon learned from my wife that another one was coming. On the East side of Norfolk Parkway, bordering Palm Bay Road, just down from Target and the soon-to-open Ross Store, ground clearing is underway for a Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant. My wife had spotted it in the Business section of our local newspaper, Florida Today, back in April.

As a huge wing fan, I can't wait to try out Buffalo Wild Wing's sauces. Good wing times are on their way! (Update 10/30/11: Read my review of the new Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant)

A Total of Four New Restaurants for West Melbourne

Longhorn Steakhouse, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Krystals will all be close neighbors in Hammock Landings, but wait. West Melbourne has one more new restaurant in the works.

Not too far to the north, just beyond Calvary Chapel Melbourne and Meadowlane Elementary School, is a Minton Road surprise. (Google Maps location) My wife and I have watched the ongoing one-story construction project whenever we drove by and wondered at what was being built. I had guessed a Veterinarian's office, but when the 'Coming Soon' sign hit the dirt, the secret was out: Charlie and Jake's BBQ will soon give Brevardians more barbeque choices.

Places to Dine... and Work

Whether you're in the mood for steaks, wings, burgers or BBQ, our growing area is rising to meet the challenge. More choices to eat, not to mention more places to work, are coming soon to the West Melbourne/Palm Bay area. A big "Welcome" to Longhorn Steakhouse, Buffalo Wild Wings, Krystals, and Charlie and Jake's Barbeque. It's good to have you near.

See you soon!

I think this is terrific! How nice and I hope the populace can afford to keep them in business:)

Restaurants are closing here. We lost a Bob Evans, KFS, A Mexican restaurant and A&W Root Beer Stand just last month!
