If you are looking for something eclectic, ranging from American, European to Continental, Joshua Wilton House may be what you are looking for. It is located on South Main Street. One of the unique things about Joshua Wilton House is it has 5 dining rooms and its menu changes some each day. For a first course you could choose items such as Grilled Summerfield Farms Venison, Malaysian Shrimp, Grilled Quail Pasta, Crispy Oysters and Grilled Tenderloin Quesadilla. For a salad you could choose their signature Joshua Wilton, Asian Greens or Caesar. Then you can choose a delicious entree Pan Seared Atlantic Salmon, Sea Scallops or Filet Mignon, Pork Tenderloin, Garlic-Herb Rubbed Hanger Steak and Chinese Five Spice Rubbed Duck. If you have room for dessert they offer Crème Brulee, passion fruit-Pineapple Trifle, Gingerbread Pear Crumble and Chocolate Souffle Cake.
Mexican may be what you are in the mood for. If so, El Charro would be right up your taste alley. They are located on East Market Street. They have great service and an affordable lunch. You can get your standard Mexican menu here.
Looking for some seafood? You can never go wrong at Red Lobster, which is located on East Market Street. You can start out with appetizers such Lobster Pizza, Southwestern Lobster Rolls, Mozzarella Sticks or Chicken Fingers. For entrees you could choose from their fresh fish of day, Rock Lobster Tail, Parrot Bay Jumbo Coconut Shrimp, Aztec Chicken, Shrimp or Crab Pasta, Seafood Stuffed Flounder, or Crab legs. Those are just some of their many choices. You can also choose to create your own feast. For dessert you can choose Key Lime Pie, Apple Overload, Chocolate Wave or Bananas Foster Cheesecake. My favorite there is to choose my own feast and get their delicious Shrimp Pasta and Broiled Flounder. Not to mention their yummy cheddar biscuits.
For some Italian you should slip on down to Valley Center on Neff Avenue, right behind the mall to a little restaurant named Caesars Italian Restaurant. Conveniently located within walking distance to James Madison University and family owned. Do not let the name fool you. This is more than some little Italian restaurant. You can choose from appetizers such as Calamari, chicken tenders, chicken nachos and nachos supreme and Bruschetta. Then for your entree you can choose Chicken Giardino, Veal or Chicken Parmesan, Seafood Heaven (shrimp, vegetables with a lobster base sauce), Shrimp Primavera, Lasagna, Rustic Salsacia, Cheese Ravioli, Crab Cakes, Manicotti or Ravioli De Porcini. If none of those catch your fancy you can also go for a 16" or 20" Pizza, a sub or a hamburger if you are looking for something quick and easy. They also offer chicken fingers, macaroni and cheese and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Homemade potato chips can finish this off as your side. Then you can finish off your meal with Italian Wedding Cake, Tiramisu, Pecan Pie, Cheesecake or Chocolate Overload. They have excellent service and a beautiful bar that boasts 6 wide screen TVs over a beautiful Mahogany bar. I personally recommend the Alaskan King Crab Legs. They were huge and full of meat and flavor and the best I have had anywhere in the vicinity.
If you visit Harrisonburg Virginia, I highly recommend you visit at least one of these restaurants and you wont be sorry.
