Four Seasons Hotel in Las Vegas - Luxury Without Gambling

Ted Sherman
We love Las Vegas and my wife I have been traveling here regularly for years. In fact, I started coming to the city in the 1960s, over 50 years ago. While we both love to gamble, there are times we seek a more peaceful alternative, but still want the luxury and dining Vegas is now famous for.

We recently spent a wonderful weekend isolated from the din of slot machines, dice and roulette in the luxurious "non-gaming sanctuary", as the hotel's website calls it, known as the Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas.

There is a luxury hotel, right in the center of the Las Vegas strip action that offers every amenity you can think of, except gambling. The hotel is part of the Mandalay Bay Resort and the Four Seasons rooms occupy the top floors of the hotel.

The great thing about the hotel is you could spend a whole week here and never see a slot machine or gaming table. But if you like the action, the Mandalay Bay Casino and the rest of Las Vegas is just steps away.

The hotel features a spa, pool and fitness center, all top quality, all separate and only for Four Seasons guests. You can dine on magnificent food also without leaving the property, especially at one of our favorites, Charlie Palmer Steak. A classic American chophouse, they have all the meat we love. The staff there too is focused on guest satisfaction and they strive to make you feel welcome and happy.

The hotel also features Verandah, a more casual, relaxed alternative, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Verandah offers contemporary cuisine with mainly Italian dishes. We found the food excellent and service impeccable as well. The hotel lacks the frenzy of other casino hotels and the staff is well trained in service and making guests feel at home. We especially enjoyed having breakfast here.

As a bonus, this is also one of the least expensive Four Season's properties, with room rates starting at $179. per night . The hotel also offers some spectacular suites, with floor to ceiling windows and amazing views of the strip and the Las Vegas mountains. We had a basic room, which was standard size for Las Vegas, had a great view and the top quality linens and other luxurious accessories Four Seasons Hotels are known for.

The hotel is physically part of the Mandalay Bay Resort but has its own, completely separate and private entrances, check-in, lobby and other amenities.

Free amenities for all guests include free hotel car service within three miles of the property, as well as free bottled water. Rooms come with free DVD players, with iHome docking stations, and the hotel offers free overnight shoe shining. Fitness center and pool access are both free, there is no "resort fee". Guests also get free access to Mandalay Bay's pool resort area, with wave pool, lagoon, tubing riving and other fun stuff.
