Four of the Strangest Lawsuits You've Ever Heard of

A woman who was bitten in her rear end lost did not lose her lawsuit because she was not injured. The Eastpointe, Michigan, woman lost because for some reason instead of suing the dog's owner, the police, she sued the dog, Liberty. Inez M. Sparks was also fined $500 for her August 2008 lawsuit for filing a frivolous suit and $500 for not appearing in Macomb County Circuit Court for a February 2009 hearing. The suit is only one example of some of the strangest lawsuits you will ever read about.

Who knows whether she expected to be paid with Alpo or not? Sparks claimed damage to her sacroiliac nerve. She also claimed her ability to walk was hindered and she suffered pain.

In another strange lawsuit, a prison inmate suited NASCAR for $23 million, claiming it was responsible for all his criminal activity. Some of the things he said NASCAR was responsible for were his credit card fraud and speeding.

Johnathan Lee Riches filed the suit in Richmond, Virginia, in U.S. District Court. He claimed watching NASCAR races caused him to speed at 135 miles-per-hour, getting tickets in the process.

He also claimed his NASCAR addiction caused him to use credit cards to attend races. He claims that once at a race he used more stolen credit cards to purchase products offered by race car drivers.

In another strange lawsuit, a woman who ran for homecoming queen and lost is suing Sacramento University as a result. Sandra Howery said it is not fair she did not win, because she had the most points.

Howery said she's had a lot of back surgeries and has had to take 28 years to get her Bachelor's Degree.

She said she is "not a sore loser." Howery said it is the "principle" of the thing. She claims the student affairs office made it sound as if she obtained the most donations; she would be the homecoming queen. She claims she had more than 14,000 points and donated the most money of anybody.

One man wanted to be in a cross country bicycle race so much he took a sick day at work to do it. He actually used three weeks of sick time. The problem was his boss saw him in a picture, and realized he was in the race. He was fired.

Andrew Hamlyn did not think being fired was fair, when he did have the sick day coming to him, so now he is suing his former boss. The former employee wasn't wearing a helmet in the picture.
