Four Things You Should Consider Before Cutting Your Hair

Have you been starring in an unpaid role as Rapunzel for most of your life? Are you ready to finally chop off your locks in favor of a short, sassy pixie or bob? Getting a haircut can be an exhilarating feeling. Some people feel like they've reinvented themselves in a day. They exude confidence and new-found sass. If you receive a cut you don't like, the experience can feel like a nightmare. Unless you are Jennifer Aniston, most people will not look or feel smoking hot with a haircut they feel is bad. Before you hastily make an appointment with your local salon, here are four things to consider.

How drastic do you really want to go

Sometimes when we look at celebrities and other style icons, we fall in love with their image. After flipping through a few pictures of bald beauty Amber Rose, she may make you consider buzzing your locks off. Don't use celebrities as a main reference. Think about how you relate to hair in general. Do you feel sexiest when you have a long, flowing mane? Or do you think you would feel more comfortable strutting around your respective city with a chic bob? Consider going to local wig shops or pinning your hair up different lengths. Which length makes you feel most comfortable and confident?

Do you have features you usually downplay?

If you feel self-conscious about your ears, then it would not be a good idea to go for a Halle Berry inspired haircut. If you have a very round face that you usually try to downplay by framing your face with hair, do not go for an Emma Wattson pixie. Take into account any feature you deem a flaw when deciding on your haircut.

What is your hair texture?

Haircuts usually make styling the hair easier. However, it can make styling more difficult for some. If you have tight curls that will frizz at a moments notice, you should consider a style that will work with your hair. You don't want to damage you hair by using excessive heat in order to keep your blunt cut bob looking sleek. If you have curly or textured hair, go for a low layered style that is long enough to still show length when in its natural state.

Does your wardrobe match your hair?

Do you have a closet full of ruffles, lace, and ribbons ,yet long for an edgy hairdo. It may be time to update your wardrobe. Make sure that the new you has plenty of outfits to match your new look. If you were planning an edgy runway haircut, but feel comfortable in more homely attire, it may be time to reevaluate whether you will be comfortable in your new look.
