Four Tips for Creating a Paintball Practice Routine

John Smith
Paintball can be a difficult sport to master and requires many hours of practice to become familiar with. Many are unsure how to get started, or how to arrange paintball practice. There are a few easy ways for you to not only get in the habit of practicing paintball for skill, but to have fun doing it.

The first tip for creating a paintball practice routine is to always test your equipment before you begin. Paintball guns, due to their nature of using air cartridges to shoot plastic-coated balls of paint, can have many potential problems. Sometimes balls will break in the barrel, leaving paint residue that effects accuracy. Always check and clean your gun (if necessary) before practicing, and check to make sure all parts and pieces fit properly. Checking for errors will have a dramatic effect on your ability to have a successful paintball practice.

The second tip for your paintball practice is to invite a few friends to scrimmage. Many sports and games are more enjoyable when played with others. Light-hearted games and challenges with others will make you want to practice more often because you are having fun. Also, having friends running around will quickly improve your ability to hit a moving target, which is key in paintball. Always be sure to wear appropriate armor and protective gear when playing. Hurting yourself or your friends is never a good way to practice and is no fun at all.

The third tip is to create a schedule. Your friends might not always be able to come and practice with you, but it would be easier on everyone if you create a schedule. One or two days a week that everyone can commit to will increase the likelihood of everyone coming to practice. Organized routines are easier to follow than random practices times. Once the routine has become part of your life, it will become a regular occurrence, and you will notice that your skill increases much quicker. It helps to schedule paintball practice on a day and time when you will already be in the area (if the meeting place isn't your own home).

The final tip for paintball practice is to make targets. If your friends cannot attend practice, or you want to practice at home on a day that isn't scheduled, you should make targets. Targets can be as easy as a simple tin can, or elaborate like a painted board. While this won't help you with your ability to hit moving targets like playing with friends will, it will improve long distance accuracy. Also, some time to practice in peace and quiet will help you to focus as you improve.
