Four Tips for Creating a Unique MySpace Layout

Chris Storm
With over 50 million users, MySpace has become the largest social networking website on the internet. Users from around the world are logging in multiple times a day due to both the viral aspect and social connecting capabilities. One of the hottest features on MySpace is the ability for users to customize their own homepages. MySpace provides a default layout for users, however, this layout is rather underwhelming.

A majority of users are now shifting toward customized layouts that are provided from numerous websites on the internet. One of the best ways to find your perfect layout is to execute a search on Google with the keywords "myspace layouts." This search should provide thousands of layouts you can use on your MySpace page. Once you've found your perfect layout, here are four tips that will help you customize your page.

1. Less is more

Let's face it... a large percentage of MySpace users fill their layouts with too many pictures. You might assume that having tons of pictures on your page improves the overall appearance. Wrong! Too many images can cause loading problems for users with slower connections and they are simply not aesthetically pleasing to the eye. If you have a ton of images you'd like to place on your MySpace Layout, visit a site like slide.com that allows you to combine all your pictures into one box. This allows you to insert numerous images while keeping a clean look to your layout.

2. Easy On The Colors

When choosing your color combinations, avoid bright, flashy colors. Use colors that go well together and allow others users to easily read your text. Books are printed on a white page with black text for a reason. This is allows the reader to quickly and easily read what is written. Bright, neon colors are hard on the eyes and divert your visitor's attention away from the text you've placed on your layout. Also, when you make your text and background the same or close to the same color, users are forced to highlight your text in order to read it. Remember, avoid colors that are too flashy or too dark on your MySpace layouts, and your friends will have a much easier time keeping up with what you've written.

3. Paragraphs Are Powerful

None of your friends or visitors enjoys reading large, unbroken blocks of text. Plus, a paragraph free MySpace layout simply looks bad! No matter how spectacular your writing may be, if you fail to use paragraphs, MySpace users will find your writing unappealing. To create a paragraph, hit the return key twice after three or four sentences. This will allow your sentences to be broken up into easy to read blocks of texts. Although this tip may sound simple, it is the one secret to creating a MySpace layout that far surpasses many layouts you'll find on MySpace.

4. Be Unique

The final tip to creating the perfect myspace layout is to be unique! Today, it seems many users are copying their friends and celebrities. It is hard to find a layout that stands out in the crowd. Your layout should! Add a touch of your own personality. Write about subjects that are unique to you. Once you begin to add a unique aspect to your MySpace Layout, your visitor count should skyrocket. Why? Because in a day and age of copy cat lifestyles, people thoroughly enjoy uniqueness. Provide it and your layout will be a hit.

These four tips will allow you to create a MySpace layout that stands out in the crowd and is aesthetically pleasing to your visitors. These tips may take some time and work on your part but each will pay off in the long run. It is your choice. You can apply one or all of the tips. If you do, be prepared to hear raving compliments about your MySpace layout!
