Tree
Truffles develop underground and require a host tree in order to grow. This tree will need to be inoculated with the fungus in order for the truffles to start growing. Also, the host tree shouldn't be located too near other trees in your yard, because they will require different growing conditions.
Weather
The type of climate you live in is very important when growing truffles in your yard. These mushrooms don't grow well in extreme weather conditions. You will likely experience problems if you have very hot summer or cold winters.
Soil
When growing truffles, it's important that you have well-drained soil. The mushrooms can grow in virtually any type of soil. However, it's best that the soil's pH is between 7.5 and 8.0. You will need to add lime if your soil is too acidic.
Truffles just need dirt to grow. You should avoid letting weeds, grass, and other types of vegetation grow too closely to your truffles. They will take away water and food that they need to grow. You should remove everything by hand instead of using tools because you may damage the mushrooms beneath the ground.
Animals
There are plenty of animals that like the flavor of these mushrooms. They can detect their scent coming from underground and will dig them up. You'll need to monitor the area closely to ensure these animals don't eat your prized truffles.
These are a few tips for growing truffles. You will need to plant a host tree innoculated with the fungus far away from other trees because they require different growing conditions. Also, make sure you keep animals away because they love the flavor of the mushrooms.
