Four Tricks to Become a Better Speedball Paintball Player

John Smith
Speedball paintball is one of the most exciting games available today. You can hit the field and play with dedicated speedball paintball enthusiasts, or take family, co-workers, or friends out with you. It's a great challenge, great exercise, and a great way to blow off steam. However, being a real speedball paintball pro requires a combination of cunning, stealth, and hand-eye coordination if you want to win the field. Here are four tips on how to succeed in speedball paintball.

Make sure that you have the right equipment You don't want to be caught with a gun that doesn't work, a mask that falls over your eyes, or even a jacket that gets in your way while you're trying to aim. Everything you wear and use should be checked out before you get behind a bunker. Make sure straps are tight, your gun's been cleaned and loaded, your mask is clear, and even that your belt is on and your shoes are tied tight. You don't want to get caught, literally, with your pants down!

What makes speedball paintball is having a proper field with bunkers that act as obstacles and protection. Stick close to the bunkers and weave between them to maintain cover. Think of the beginning of "Saving Private Ryan," and how people moved between barriers to keep from getting mowed down on their way to the beaches. Cover yourself!

Concentrate on your speed rather than your stealth. Those bunkers are great, but you're still going to have to make the move and take on your opponents' bunkers. Speedball paintball is not a game of creeping and stealth. It's a game of shooting without being shot. Stay between bunkers for cover ONLY, and rely purely on speed and cunning to get up to your opponents to lay down a killing shot.

Make sure you play with others that have a similar skill set. There are professional speedball paintball teams. If you're a beginner, find a group that's at your same level, or that is willing to take you in and teach you and be tolerant of your lack of skill. At the same time, don't pick on new players who are trying to join the sport. Speedball paintball is a fast growing sport, and it's up to all the players to let new people learn and have fun spraying paint at each other. If you follow these four tips, you'll be sure to win the day the next time you play speedball paintball.
