Four Ways to Be Excessively Happy

Matthew Schieltz
In an era where probably more than half of the population experiences enormous amounts of stress, depression, or has some sort of mental illness, there is much to be said about positive mental thinking and having a happy way of life. If you think about it for a moment, there are some people that you come in contact with in your daily life that you probably consider to be "obsessively happy," right? If so, are you jealous of those people? Do you want to find more ways to be "obsessively happy" or just plain ol' happy? There are plenty of ways to actually go about your life being happy and many of these involve formulating a habit. Experts say that habits take about 2 weeks to form. If you could take 2 weeks out of your life and learn to be obsessively happy, would you?

Happy Habit 1: Sing in the shower, in the house, and in the car!

If you have never burst into song while taking a shower or in your house, you just may want to try singing to be happy! It doesn't matter how you sing or how awful you think you sing, there are definitely some vocal chords in your body. Exercise those vocal chords to the extreme; whether you like light rock, oldies music, christian music, rap, or a combination of all of them, singing can do a tremendous amount of work on the body by relaxing it. If you sing and are relaxed while doing so, you not only have found a way to lower your blood pressure, but you've found a way to effectively deal with some of the stress in your life!

Happy Habit 2: Get a Pet!

Studies have shown that cats and dogs can not only lower your blood pressure, but they also have a knack for providing you with a companion when you're feeling lonely. Furthermore, you'll also have somebody to talk to when you come home from work. Talking to your animals is also something that a lot of people take advantage of and talking to your favorite cat or dog can also be a way to problem-solve. Talking about your problems with your pet is a great idea if you are single and live alone!

Happy Habit #3: Make Friends at Work!

Surrounding yourself with your friends at work can be one of the most positive things that you can do for yourself in the workplace. When everyone is griping and complaining about the job and what it entails, you can be talking to your friend about what you're going to be doing on the weekend or about the concert that you both went to last night. Having positive influences at work is definitely a good thing to have in your life!

Happy Habit #4: Smile!

Remember when you were little and the camera man always said, "Say Cheese"? The point of that was to get you to actually smile! Using your smile muscles is also a good way to become happy. Realizing that the stress in your life is too much can be overwhelming, so take some time out of the day to think about the things that actually make you smile! You'll be amazed what comes to your mind!

So hopefully the next time you run into that "obsessively happy" person in your life, maybe you'll actually have a reason to smile and be happy. By practicing these techniques you'll be able to get a good hold on how to practice happy habits in your life so that you can become a happy person!
