Four Ways to Warm Up Your Face for Summer

Laura Leiva
Summer is a time to get out and enjoy the outdoors and sun, hang out with friends and barbecue or even just be casual and relaxed in your beauty routine. Since summer is about letting go and being free, there are easy ways to warm up your face with minimal makeup but still look great. With warmer weather or spending hours in the water, your typical beauty regimen just won't cut it. Here is how you can look put together, while actually doing very little:

1. Eyes

Since makeup is minimal, you have to do more with less. Cover up blemishes or dark circles under the eyes with a creamy concealer. To counteract dark circles and redness, a yellow-toned concealer is all you need. Each night before you go to bed, use an eye cream to deflate puff and minimize shadows for a perked up face the next morning.

Use a shimmer shadow on the lids in warm colors like copper, gold or rose to brighten up the eyes and add a bit of color to the face. Use a waterproof mascara to darken lashes, so that it stays put throughout the day.

2. Foundation

Instead of caking on foundation, go semi-au natural with a tinted moisturizer. Not only will the moisturizer hydrate the skin, but the tinted formula adds subtle color and coverage--perfect for summer. A moisturizer with a hint of shimmer will also warm up the face and brighten it up for day or night.

3. Bronzer

One way to warm up the skin is to add bronzer to areas of the face where light naturally hits, like the forehead, cheekbones, bridge of the nose and chin. Add a dab of it to each area, and blend in with your fingers.

4. Lips

Looking for a color that won't wash off during the day? A lip stain is ideal to use in bright and vibrant colors like fuchsia or red-orange, both of which make the skin look tan and whiten up the teeth for an all-over summer glow. If you don't want to look too done up, tinted lip balms are perfect to use for subtle color and moisturizing. Plus, who doesn't love Lip Smacker balms in fun summer flavors like Pink Lemonade or Strawberry?
