Four New Ways to Use Wi-Fi like Never Before

Invest Kid
When we think of Wi-Fi, we think of wireless Internet. But with all of the technology advances we see today, we have to start thinking outside of the box! Wi-Fi is no longer just for connecting your computer to the World Wide Web.

If you have a Microsoft Zune or iPod Touch, look into using your Wi-Fi to synchronize your digital collection to your home computer. Wi-Fi also allows you to share your tunes with other Zune owners! Or when you want to play your mp3 files or Rhapsody music playlist loud enough for everyone to hear, you can connect your stereo and digital files without literally connecting!

For those who love to surf YouTube, it's now easy to play the videos you find on the web on your actual tube. If you have Tivo or one of HP's MediaSmart HDTVs, it can all be done wirelessly. But don't stop there, surf the entire Internet on your television also -yes, it's possible!

Wi-Fi is also making a move into our cars. When you're looking to find directions on your GPS, connect to Yahoo Local and get traffic and weather updates. You can also send directions that you find while you're at home to your GPS system. Autonet Mobile is a company that created a device that can turn your car into a hotspot on wheels. Use your laptop in the car and get perfect signal reception no matter where you are.

And if your hotspot on wheels, internet tv, or wireless syncing music player isn't enough, bring Wi-Fi technology to your kitchen and laundry room. With Wi-Fi, your appliances can alert you via Internet or notify your appliance technician if something isn't working right. It can also tell you if you've left the refrigerator door open.

It's only a matter of time before our toilets are using Wi-Fi to read the newspaper to us, or our vacuums are automatically racing on the carpet. Wi-Fi has taken the world by storm and won't be stopping anytime soon!
