With Halloween coming up, you may want to get an eerie workout. Have no fear if you want a wild workout more than once a year. Every eerie workout on my list can be done year-round.
#1 Add spooky sounds
Add spooky sounds to your athletic activities with new downloads for your iPod, or play a new album while you workout. For new downloads try the Classical Halloween Collection - Classical Music of Doom, Dread, and all things Wicked! With 50 songs to choose from, you're sure to find several that you like. When looking for a compact disc, Halloween Music Collection CD by Midnight Syndicate is a creepy choice.
#2 Add candlelight, fog, incense, or lighting
Add candlelight, fog, incense, or lighting to your workout. These all make great additions to yoga. Add fog with a fog machine, and use real or flameless candles to include candlelight. Faux flames are a safe way to enhance your workout experience. Special lighting will add an eerie glow. Intensify sound with lighted speakers. Use black lights to produce an eerie ambiance. Lay glow sticks on the floor to encircle your workout space. Use star or ghost laser projectors for a sensational sight.
#3 Creepy cemetery walk or run
A graveyard walk can be peaceful and eerie at the same time. I highly recommend bringing a walking or jogging partner with you. Get a ghostly walk or run together. Always put your safety first. After your workout, take photographs of the cemetery for chilling sights.
#4 Halloween races
Find a Halloween race for a creepy contest. While I am going to highlight Halloween races, other races can be found all year long. Are you up for the challenge of a freaky 5K or a wicked 10K? If so, here is a list of several holiday races throughout the U.S.
- Freaky 5K or Terrifying 10K in Pittsburgh, Pa., on Oct. 29. There is a post-race party at the North Park Ice Rink. A 5K race is 3.1 miles.
- Wicked 10 K in Virginia Beach, Va., on Oct. 29. A 10 K is 6.2 miles. Sign up now.
- Halloween Hustle (5 & 10 K Run) in Lees Summit, Mo.
- For Halloween races in Fla., Ga., Tenn., Wis., N.J., Va., N.H., N.C., and Ohio check out this list of 13 eerie venues.
Have a Happy Halloween, and remember that you can get an eerie workout all year long!
