The Independence Day Celebrations for the DFW area begins at 6:00 p.m. on July 3, 2011 in Arlington, Texas with "Light Up Arlington", an annual event held at the intersection of Abram and Center Streets. There is no admittance fee. The live music, also free, at the Levitt Pavilion, features the Arlington Community Band and Celebration Chorale and lyrical country music by Radney Foster. The First Baptist Church will sponsor free children's activities (including bounce houses) and will give away popcorn, cotton candy, and water. Food and drinks should also be for sale by vendors. The evening will end with a fireworks show.

On Independence Day, July 4th, Arlington's annual parade begins at 9 a.m. and should be finished by 11:30 a.m. The route has not been determined at this date, but usually covers the area in front of City Hall on Abrams Street and then south on Center Street. A great family Fourth of July can be enjoyed at Fair Park in Dallas from 4:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Fair Park is located at 3809 Grand Avenue. The celebration is free and open to the public; however, there is a parking lot charge of $10.

Fair Park is providing free admission from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. to all eight of their museums and a reduced admission of $4 for the Children's Aquarium from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.

There will be games, food, musical entertainment, and a fireworks show at 9:30 p.m. (recommended seating for the fireworks show is inside the Cotton Bowl).

Fort Worth

Monday, July, 4, 2011 can also be celebrated with free music and family activities on the Trinity River behind LaGrave Field.

The Fort Worth Cats game begins at 4:35 p.m. Fireworks begin after the Cats game ends.

The event includes water activities, a cardboard slide derby, Most Patriotic Costume contest, live music, jet ski shows, pony rides, levee hill slides, miniature golf, treasure dig, bounce houses, Fort Worth herd, water wars, and splash pad.

  • Inner tubes, kayaks, and swim up barges are available free of charge
  • A variety of food, and beverages will be available for purchase.
  • Fresh watermelon and cold water are complimentary.
  • You may bring picnics, coolers, non-alcoholic beverages, blankets, and lawn chairs.
  • Parking is available at LaGrave Field for $5 or free along the side streets of North Main.
