The Fourth of July is only one day away, and festivities are going on all around the Country. If you are in the Huerfano County area in Colorado this Fourth of July, you just might want to check out some of the festivities going on in the county. The following is a list of events in the Huerfano County Colorado area.

In Walsenburg, Colorado: July 4th Fireworks display at the Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center beginning at 6 p.m. There will be free bus rides from the Community center and John Mall High School at 6 and 7:15 with rides back to those locations after the fireworks. There will be food vendors and fun in the hospital parking lot.

In La Veta and Cuchara, Colorado: Jul 4, 2007 40th Annual Cuchara 4th of July Celebration (Fun Run-8:30 am, Parade 10 am)

If you have never been to Huerfano County, Colorado, but will be in the area, I strongly suggest that you consider stopping in and checking out this awesome County. There is a State Park, (Lathrop State Park), directly across from the hospital in Walsenburg, Colorado, that is great for swimming, fishing, boating, hiking, RV'ing, and tent camping. They have a great gift shop in the front office and all the facilities of home except for laundry, but there is a Laundromat in town just 3 miles up State Road 160.

La Veta is an artist town if you are into art, and is one of the most beautiful little mountain towns you'll ever visit. And if you enjoy hiking, well then you will want to hike the Spanish Peaks from La Veta. The Spanish Peaks are awesome, and just waiting to show you their beauty. The Spanish Peaks, were named by Native American Indians who held the Peaks in religious significance and named the mountains Wahatoya, meaning "Breasts of the Earth. They are a beautiful site to see, as are The Sangre De Christo Mountains, which translated means, "The Blood Of Christ"

All in all, besides the Fourth of July festivities in Huerfano Colorado, there is so much to see and do from, the State Parks, mountain trails, and art galleries, to swimming, hiking, fishing, and so many more fun things to do. Oh, did I mention that Walsenburg has a water park too? There's lots of fun family adventures to be had in Huerfano County, so come spend a week or two, you'll be glad you did, and you may never want to leave.;
