Round Rock, TX 78681
United States of America
Round Rock starts its day of family-friendly Fourth of July activites at 10am with a parade through town downtown Round Rock. In previous years, the parade has featured decked out fire engines with firefighters throwing candy to the kids, high school bands, cultural dancers, and even mounted cowboys on horseback to add some Texas flair to the event. There is ample viewing area along the route, but the shaded spots are taken fast.
The parade wraps up at Old Settlers Park, where your family can enjoy a full day of festivities. The park hosts children's games, a jalapeno pepper contest, the famous Sam Bass Shootout, inflatables, Ballet Folklorico dancers, and more. The evening is capped off with a performance by the Austin Symphonic Band at dusk followed by a massive fireworks display just after 9pm.
The nearby city of Georgetown also offers a similar event. The Fourth of July parade in Georgetown begins at 11am in San Gabriel Park. Festivities then run throughout the day at the park, with a petting zoo, live entertainment, face painting, and more. Georgetown also hosts an evening fireworks display just after 9pm on July 4.
Lake Travis is also equally as popular, if not more so, for viewing Fourth of July fireworks. This year's fireworks celebration takes place in front of Carlos N Charlie's on the lake, on July 3. The effect of the fireworks in the sky is enhanced by its glow of the gentle waves on Lake Travis. You can enjoy live music and great food while you enjoy the fireworks if you get there early enough to get a table.
Volente Beach Water Park on Lake Travis is also hosting a fireworks display on July 4. Admission to the display is free if you pay park admission prior to 8pm. If you enter the park after 8pm, the fee is $5 per person.
As always, if you drive a little ways into Austin, you can enjoy the most popular event in the metro area - the HEB Austin Symphony July 4th Fireworks and Concert. This event takes place on the shores of Lady Bird Lake in downtown Austin, and draws hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. Highlights of this fireworks display are the Austin Symphony Orchestra performing a number of patriotic tunes, including the 1812 Overture. Just before the fireworks begin, the Texas National Guard Salute Battery will fire cannons in celebration of the event. This event, as always if open to the public with free admission. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs, pack some snacks and drinks, and enjoy the show.
There are so many great fireworks in and around the Round Rock area for your family to enjoy. Have a Happy Fourth of July!
