Berry Patriotic Fourth of July Flag Cake

Red White and Blue (and good to chew)

Light and Delicious Dessert that not only looks good, it tastes great!!

What you will need

One Duncan Hinds Moist White Cake Mix (box)
Mix uses (3 eggs, water and oil)
2 cups of fresh whole washed blueberries
1 quart of fresh whole washed strawberries
1 can Duncan Hines Home-style French Vanilla Icing

Make the cake, let it cool, Ice the cake. Next turn the cake side to side (landscape).

Stars:
Begin adding the whole blueberries in rows, just in the upper left corner, like "the blueberries form the blue background and the spaces between, are white, and represent the stars", really cool!!
Stripes:
Slice the strawberries long ways (not in circles) and place them, starting in the center at the top. Line the strawberries just like the red stripes on our flag. There are seven red and six white. Plan these ahead and make this masterpiece perfect!!

That's IT! I prefer this cake chilled, my son likes to microwave his piece for 20 seconds, but everyone else does not care. We actually had to make a second cake because the kids ate it all before the adults got any! They loved it, and I hope you do too!!

If you really wanna kick it up, before you ice the cake, get some strawberry juice (smash a cup of berries, add 1/2 c. sugar and a little water )to make a liquid (if you have time juice is better if it sits for a day in the fridge), poke holes in the cake from the top and pour the strawberry mix in the holes. AS Emeril said, "BAM BAM!!"
