Summer kicks of in full speed when the Fourth of July approaches. Are you having a grand celebration, with the food, friends and fireworks? We always have a house full of guest celebrating and having a "blast". We usually have a big barbecue with loads of desserts and treats. The hot dogs and hamburgers will be cooked over the charcoal grill. I better not forget about the steaks, they are my husband's and 12 year old son's favorite. As they are enjoying their steaks and hot dogs, I am off enjoying my Fourth of July desserts and treats.

A friend of mine gave me some new recipes to try this year and I am sure that they are going to be a big hit. I know this because I have tested them a week after she gave them to me. I want to also try them out for the Memorial Day Weekend celebration. I found each recipe to be easy and rather simple to make. The following are the easy, quick recipes, try them and enjoy!

The first one is a Frosty Orange Drink:

1 pkg (4 serving size) JELL-O brand orange flavor gelatin
1 cup of boiling water
2 cups vanilla ice cream, softened

Dissolve gelatin in water. Gradually add ice cream, stirring with wire whisk until well blended. Spoon evenly into 4 dessert cups, then refrigerate for 20 minutes or until chilled.

The second recipe I have is called 5-minute banana split cup:

4 JELL-O pudding snacks, vanilla flavor
2 medium bananas, thinly sliced
1/4 cup thawed cool whip whipped topping
1/4 cup hot fudge ice cream topping

Top pudding snacks with banana slices and whipped topping. Microwave fudge topping as directed on label. Drizzle evenly over desserts. Serve immediately.

The third and final recipe I have Is Springtime Poke Cake:

1 pkg. white cake mix
1 cup boiling water
1 pkg. (4 serving size) JELL-O brand strawberry flavor gelatin
1 tub (8 ounce) cool whip whipped topping, thawed
Blue food coloring

Prepare batter and bake cake as directed on package. Cool for 10 minutes. Pierce top of cake with fork many times. Stir boiling water into gelatin mix until dissolved; spoon over cake. Refrigerate 30 minutes. Tint whipped topping with blue food coloring; spread over cake. Store in refrigerator.

I found these Fourth of July desserts and treats easy and fun to make. Kids and adults alike will love these tasty treats. Be a little creative and add different flavors. The frosty orange recipe is great in the strawberry flavor. Add your personal touch and create a slightly new creation.

Have a happy and safe celebration!!
