If you are looking for a place to go this July Fourth, Salem, Ohio is the place to go. Quaker City Raceway will be having their Mid Summer Explosion Saturday, open to the public at 10:30am, with plenty of entertainment Featuring the Bob Motz Jet Truck, a quick and fast jet Truck. This truck was created by father and son, and is a definite eye catcher. Flames shooting out the top and the back of this huge truck keeps spectators in awe. The Great Lakes Nostalgia Funny Cars will showcase a group of cars from the past. Most of these cars were used in the 1970s, and have made it through today. These awesome cars are a proven success, and travel around the area showing off their old time look. The Cool Bus Wheelstander, a great show for kids. This school bus is like no other. It looks like a school bus, it works like a school bus, but it can stand on it's back wheels like no other school bus. And last, the Nostalgia Wars, who are known for their "wheel standing, tire burning, and crowd pleasing, old skool drag racing."(www.cruisintimes.org). Kids under 7 get in free, 7 to 17 years old is $10 and adults are $15 to get in. There will be a regular program with racing all day, without points.

Downtown Salem will have a pet parade and a decorated vehicle parade starting at 1pm, on the corner of Pershing and Broadway. This is an awesome event, as you get to see the cutest and ugliest pets in your city, plus the most creative and talented groups of people driving their decorated cars around town, which includes decorated bikes and wagons as well. Trophies and goody bags will be distributed to the winners and runner ups. Bring your kids to this entertaining event. Full of fun and excitement for children to see, and a definite safe atmosphere for a holiday event.

The yearly Fourth of July Fireworks at Waterworth Memorial Park, located in Salem, Ohio will begin Saturday at about 8:30pm, starting with the All-American Free For All Team. All proceeds for the event came from raised money through out Salem. The Salem Patriotic and Memorial Association held a pasta dinner to help pay for the costs. Each year this display brings thousands of visitors, spread out over the huge acres of the park. Many residents of Salem sit out in their yards or porches to view the display, since it can be seen throughout town. Many years my family sat on top of the carport roof to see such a spectacular display.

Each year these events bring hundreds of visitors and area residents to one location. Providing a fun, friendly, and family atmosphere. You are guaranteed a good time at each event, no matter what your age.
