Fourth of July Fireworks in Carnation WA

Charlene S Noto
What would the Fourth of July be without fireworks, so reminiscent of the phrases in America's national anthem? In the small town of Carnation, Washington, the finale of the day is always spent watching a magnificent display of fireworks.

This year's Theme:

Carnation's Fourth of July theme this year is "Proud to be American" so the firework's red, whites and blues should be particularly spectacular.

Time:

Fireworks start just after dusk and in the Pacific Northwest, this means around 10:20 pm. There will be live entertainment scheduled prior to the fireworks. Last year the entertainment began around 4 pm so plan on making a party of it.

Location:

The fireworks celebration in Carnation this year will be held at the Tolt River - John MacDonald Park. You'll find the entrance to the park located at NE 40th St. on the west side of Hwy 203 (also called Snoqualmie/Duvall Rd) between Napa Auto Parts and Carnation Storage and Box.

Parking:

There is limited parking available for a $5.00 fee. If you arrive too late to grab a parking spot at the park, it is not that far from town and many of the town residents walk to the festivities.

Entertainment:

Carnation always has live entertainment prior to the firework festivities. At this time, the actual entertainment schedule has not been confirmed, but as soon as there are more details they will be posted on the official entertainment section of the Carnation Fourth of July web site.

Tips:

Although bugs are not an excessive problem in the Carnation area, you still want to bring or use insect repellant for any stray, pesky mosquitoes. With plenty of field space, you might also wish to bring a baseball and gloves, or a Frisbee so you and the kids can play catch.

One other important thing to note: Personal fireworks are banned in Carnation so if you want to enjoy some fireworks, please watch them from the display at Tolt River - John McDonald Park.

Personal Impressions:

Each year, my husband and I set up lawn chairs on our front lawn, and with a bottle of wine and a block of cheese, we enjoy the fireworks bursting over the tree line each year. We have never been disappointed with the Carnation display. Whenever I think it's over, they always surprise me with more.
