Fourth of July Fireworks and Celebrations in San Diego County

If you live in San Diego, you are probably thinking about where you will spend the Fourth of July. There are celebrations planned throughout the county, and some of them are at large venues, which are always spectacular. Here is a look at some of the Fourth of July fireworks that are planned, along with other events scheduled to celebrate the day.

Central San Diego Fourth of July Events and Fireworks:

Annual Big Bay Boom Fourth of July Fireworks Show. This event takes place downtown. For more information, call (619) 686-6200 or visit their website thebigbay.com. Fireworks, from barges placed near Shelter Island,
Harbor Island, the Embarcadero area and Seaport Village, at 9 p.m. to music from 105.7 "The Walrus" FM radio.

Maritime Museum of San Diego, 1492 N. Harbor Drive, downtown: www.sdmaritime.org or (619) 234-9153. Fireworks cruise aboard tall ship Californian at 6:15; ages 7 and up, $65.

Summer Pops: "Star Spangled Pops" at the Embarcadero Marina Park South, downtown: (619) 235-0804. Concerts with Marvin Hamlisch. $15-$75. Gates open 6 p.m.; concerts at 7:30.

Hornblower Cruises & Events, 1066 N. Harbor Drive, downtown: (888) 467-6256. Dinner cruise and fireworks viewing; live music. Board at 6:30 p.m. Adults $125; discount for children 4-12.

USS Midway Museum, Embarcadero, downtown: www.midway.org. Beginning at 6 p.m., visitors can bring aboard picnics, then watch the fireworks. Live music. Limited tickets available; adults $10; children $5.

Coronado Fourth of July Celebration, Spreckels Park; Glorietta Bay: ecoronado.com or (619) 328-2461. Parade 10 a.m.; fireworks 9 p.m.

La Jolla Cove, Ellen Browning Scripps Park, 1180 Coast Blvd.: (858) 456-1700. Fireworks at 9 p.m.

Ocean Beach, Ocean Beach Pier, foot of Niagara Avenue: (619) 226-8613 or oceanbeachsandiego.com. Fireworks at 9 p.m. to 103.7 FM radio.

SeaWorld San Diego, 500 SeaWorld Drive, Mission Bay: (800) 25-SHAMU. July 3-5. Extended fireworks set to patriotic music at about 9:30 p.m. This is my favorite place to see fireworks. From Shamu stadium, you can see other fireworks displays in the distance.

Mira Mesa, Mira Mesa Community Park/Gil Johnson Recreation Center, 8575 New Salem St.: (858) 538-8122. Noon-9 p.m. parade, family activities and fireworks at 9 p.m.

Fourth of July Fireworks and Events in East County San Diego:

Santee Town Center Community Park, 9400 Cuyamaca St (619) 258-4100, ext. 201. Family activities and fireworks, 3:30-9:30 p.m.

Spring Valley Park, 8735 Jamacha Blvd., Spring Valley: (619) 479-1832. Fireworks will begin at 9 p.m.

Fourth of July Fireworks and Events in North County San Diego:

San Diego County Fair, Del Mar Fairgrounds, 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd.: (858) 755-1161 or sdfair.com. 7:30 p.m Navy Band Southwest; 9 p.m fireworks, followed by Smokey Robinson concert. Free with fair admission. Another great fireworks display and favorite!

Camp Pendleton, Del Mar Beach, Oceanside: (760) 725-5355 or mccs.cp.com. Daylong barbecue and activities for military and guests; fireworks at 9 p.m.

Grape Day Park, 340 N. Escondido Blvd., Escondido: 4 to 10 p.m. (760) 839-4138. Includes a patriotic tribute, circus, concerts, light show and fireworks.

LegoLand, One Legoland Drive, Carlsbad: (760) 918-5346. 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Entertainment by the Jumpitz. Fireworks at 8:30 p.m. All activities included with admission.

North Tyson Street Park, Oceanside: msoceanside.com or (760) 535-5227. Daylong family-friendly activities. No fireworks involved.

Olive Pierce Middle School, 1521 Hanson Lane, Ramona: ramonachamber.com/ or (760)789-1311. Family activities start at 5 p.m.; fireworks at 9 p.m. to music on 96.5 FM radio.

Bradley Park, 465 S. Rancho Santa Fe Road, San Marcos: ci.san-marcos.ca.us/ or (760) 744-9000. Entertainment at 5 p.m. Fireworks begin at 9 p.m.

Fourth of July Fireworks and Events in South County San Diego:

Kimball Park, 12th Street and D Avenue, National City (619) 336-4290. Carnival 5 p.m. July 2 and 3; July 4, noon to midnight; fireworks begin at 9 p.m.

    Maybe I'm old-fashioned but I'd like the Summer Pops and Star Spangled Pops :) Thanks for the info about fireworks in San Diego County
