Fourth of July Fun in Conroe, Texas

Cheryl Engelke
July Fourth is the celebration of Independence for America. As the nation celebrates its 233rd birthday, the town of Conroe gears up for some good, old- fashioned American fun. It seems Conroe has its own stimulus package to help you celebrate the Fourth of July and leave your pocketbook at home. Between parades, free concerts, and festivals, you are sure to find something to tickle you red, white, and blue! The Woodlands, just a short drive away is also hosting some Independence Day fun.

FREE Concerts

Kicking off the celebrations on July 3, Conroe and the Woodlands both have concerts. The Outlets at Conroe, is hosting a concert by The Cody Johnson Band. The Outlets at Conroe will also have an after- dark sale during the concert. The Concert is FREE and starts after dark.

In The Woodlands, there is another FREE concert at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. The Star Spangled Salute by the Houston Symphony. They will be playing a selection of American classics, sing-a-longs and cannon accompanied version of Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture". The gates open at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m.

I worked at Lake Conroe Exxon on the night of the 4th. I remember the fantastic fireworks going up over Lake Conroe. I could see them from the store. It was cool.
