Divine and Decadent Ice Cream Cake
Ingredients:
9 or 10 inch spring form pan
3 cups of crushed Oreo crumbs or 2 Oreo crust pre-made pie shells
½ stick of margarine or butter
8 oz package of heath's Toffee Bits
12 oz jar of Smucker's caramel topping or you can melt the caramels and make your own
12 oz jar of Smucker's hot fudge topping
1 pint chocolate ice cream
1 pint French vanilla ice cream
1 pint coffee ice cream
*Preparation requires some time between layers and you may want to prepare the day before you plan on serving it
Allow ice cream to soften at room temperature (soft but firm)
Mix the heath's toffee bits thoroughly in the softened vanilla ice cream and set aside (you may save a small amount of toffee bits for garnish)
Mix Oreo crumbs and butter and form a crust in the bottom and sides of the spring form pan
Place the pan in the freezer to chill crust for at least 30 minutes
Take the softened vanilla ice cream with toffee bits and layer it in the bottom of the crust lined spring form pan (you can do chocolate layer first also and make the vanilla with toffee the middle layer)
Place first layer of ice cream in the freezer to allow it to freeze for at least an hour
After the first layer of ice cream has firmed well, then layer the caramel sauce over the first ice cream layer and place back in the freezer to chill at least 30 minutes
Take the softened second layer of ice cream (chocolate or the vanilla with toffee bits) and layer that over the caramel and first layer
Place back in the freezer to allow the ice cream to firm and freeze
Later pour the fudge sauce over the first two layers and allow it to chill or freeze well
Finally take the softened coffee ice cream and layer it as the final layer and place back in the freezer
You can sprinkle some toffee bits and drizzle some caramel and chocolate as garnish at the end
Freeze ice cream well before serving and you may need to slice it with a knife if you did it properly
Enjoy this fourth of July recipe and ice cream delight.
