For the most part I play old rock and roll with a mix of newer stuff. I hate most of the stuff you hear on the radio these days from mainstream stations and top 40 is just... ugh. At the end of the day I just say, "To hell with you all, it's my barbecue - it's my choice of music. If you don't like it, piss off." I usually create a playlist of about 45-60 songs of uplifting nature as well as some classic hits that spark up nostalgia of summer good times. However, I will give you my top 10; mostly these are tracks that get the most requests for replays. Without further ado, let's go.
Brown-eyed Girl - Van Morrison
American Pie - Don McLean
Summer Rain - Johnny Rivers
Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood - The Animals
Summertime - DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince
The Four Horsemen - Metallica
Lust For Life - Iggy Pop
Good Vibrations - The Beach Boys
Really Rockabilly - Brian Setzer
Medium Pace - Adam Sandler
These may not be a part of your favorite tunes but I suggest you give a few the include on your list and see how your guests react. I'll bet you get a few questions about them. If anyone asks, "Dude, what the fuck is this?" Your reply should be, "Take a walk you filthy fuckin' ape and never come back to my home. May you eat shit and die, sir."
Happy 4th of July!!
