Top Ten Songs For Fourth Of July celebrations

Here's a list of some great songs to play on the Fourth Of July. Enjoy the fireworks!!!!!

10. Proud to Be An American - Lee Greenwood

Even though this song landed in the overplayed dept. after the tragedy's of 9/11, this song reminds our nation that despite the issues of our nation today, we should still be proud to be Americans.

9. God Bless America - written by Irving Berlin

This classic American tune was introduced during a radio broadcast on Amriciste Day in 1938. Originally sung by Kate Smith, this tune has been sung by many after her. May God continue to bless our nation.

8. America - Neil Diamond

This song always brings to this authors mind at least, pictures from the turn of the century as they came through Ellis Island, heeding the call of Lady Liberty. My own great grandfather came on one of those boats as an immigrant from Denmark in the 1920's.

7. America the Beautiful - Katherine Lee Bates

Personally, my favorite line of this song is the one that talks about the "purple mountain majesties", because Utah has those.

6. Sweet Southern Comfort - Buddy Jewell

This song is a beautiful tribute to the southern states especially, but also small town living. When you think of it, every city was a small town at one time, except maybe L.A., but that's another article.

5. Independence Day - Carrie Underwood

Yes, when you read the song it boils down to a song about a woman who after being abused by her husband burned down the house. However this song is reflective of a personal Independence Day. Few people appreciate freedom more then the ones who have had to fight for it.

4. Surfin' USA - The Beach Boys

What music captures the feel of summer better than the Beach Boys? And it's got USA in it so it's in keeping with the 4th of July.

3. Born in the USA - Bruce Springstein

This song written in 1984, is one of the "Boss's" best known singles. This song also remains an American classic.

2. Angry American - Toby Keith

This song hit the airwaves as a result of 9/11. This "kick ass" country song pays tribute to the men and women that are ensuring our freedoms endure, which includes the right to celebrate the day of our nations birth.

1. The Star Spangled Banner - John Philip Sousa

While this song was not the official anthem of America until 1931, the song was initially written in1812, and set to the tune of an English drinking song.
