Fox News Brings Conservative Republican Politics into a Brand New Arena
Being Conservative Means Loving Fox News as Much as Republican Politics
There's something to be said for healthy skepticism, and as the 2012 presidential election season draws nearer, there are plenty of Conservative Republican pundits and talking heads out there, not just on Fox News, spouting about Republican Politics, Conservative ideals, and the liberal scourge that they say threatens the fabric of American Society.
What's New with the Young Republicans?
There's a serious question that has yet to be asked, however. When George Bush Junior was in office, it became unpatriotic to question the president. There were calls of treason scattered in any direction that seemed to question what the president was doing. Today, those calls of treason have turned, and President Obama is called a "socialist," a "communist," and a variety of other less-endearing epithets. Fox News cries foul when the "liberal media" questions conservative republicans vying for the 2012 presidential election when at the same time, they turn their backs on the very same behavior from their own ranks during the last presidential election.
Is this what being a conservative Republican means today? Following unquestioningly the dictates of the Republican party?

In the midst of the Occupy Wall Street protests, there is an outcry from many Republican Political figures saying that the protest is disjointed and without leadership, all the while not realizing that what the Occupy Wall Street protesters are doing is not in support of the democratic party. It is a movement aimed at the core of wall street problems, which no one has seen fit yet to address. The recent housing crisis, oil prices, and a host of other problems have been time and again linked to commodity price manipulation and short selling of stock. Is there a reason that Conservative Republicans and Fox News choose to turn a blind eye to this?
Socialism and the Grand Old Party
Often, there is a question that comes up, primarily concerned with socialism. Many are concerned that under a socialist system, they would not be able to make a living that they earn. This has been proven time and again around the world. It's true that those forms of economic policy don't work, because there's always going to be those who want to work and those who don't. This is, unfortunately natural. Further, Conservative Republicans often cite their desire not to have to support those who don't pull their weight in society. This is a sound argument. However, the solution to the problem is, in fact one of a socialist society. In a democracy, and in a consumer-driven economy such as we have, people have to have the choice of whether to work or not. You can't force someone to work. There are a few programs being enacted that will help to offset this problem, but by and large, the small things that could be done are being ignored by Conservative Republicans in favor of more sweeping changes, many of which simply could not be enacted.
Florida's decision to begin drug testing welfare recipients is a step in the right direction. On the other hand, many of the tax plans being touted by 2012 presidential election hopefuls are little more than smoke and mirrors. It seems reasonable to suppose that this is why Obama hasn't addressed plans like the flat tax or Herman Cain's 999 plan. The sad fact is that they are doomed legislation. The current Republican-controlled congress will likely be replaced with a Democratic congress after the next election, meaning that even if Conservative Republicans do manage to vote someone into the office of the President, the American people will be looking at little more than four more years of gridlock, a truth that Fox News just doesn't seem to want to address. Of course, it's safe to say that their arch nemesis "liberal media" outlets won't want to touch that particular issue, either.
So, what's the biggest problem facing America? It ain't Socialism, folks- It's politicians refusing to work together. Calling Obama a socialist isn't going to get legislation passed. Now that he's stated that the Iraq war is done, and that the troops will be heading home soon, it'll be yet another thing for conservative pundits to latch onto. Maybe it is an election race ploy. The thing is, who cares? It's one way of reducing the national debt, isn't it? How long have people been saying that we should stop letting our servicemen and women die for a cause that is at best obscure after ten years?
As the 2012 Presidential election rolls into being, one thing's for certain- Conservative Republican politics are going to take center stage more than ever since the election that voted Abe Lincoln into office. The stakes have never been higher, regardless of your political leanings. The question remains, however, how the hell can anything get done if the two parties can't find some kind of common ground? If all the infighting and bickering would stop, we might just have a chance to get this United States back on track again.
